Title: Front Rack Mount Alternatives
Post by: hanousjim on January 19, 2020, 09:16:42 AM
Hi, I just purchased a Rad City Step Thru, and I'm not liking the front rack they sell, or the price. I'm wanting a lighter weight option, but still utilizing the mount on the front.
What I'm considering is a simple angled piece of aluminum that bolts to the front mount, that supports a wicker or wire basket from underneath.

I'm open to any suggestions... does anyone have any ideas?

This is the only alternative I am aware of though I don't believe this is what you're looking for:

https://mri-denver.com/shop?fbclid=IwAR3xumVzJpdKdHlVj1JklM9LZq4Iv8Ioxg7zIsZTNa6tHYBxJgcvSSqYBq4&olsPage=products%2Fmri-denver-front-basket-for-rad-mini-and-mini-strup-thru-bikes

If it were me I'd buy a couple sturdy L brackets at a hardware store and drill holes to match. Use smaller pieces of metal to reinforce them together. Then find a basket which will meet your needs.
