Brand new, never powered up, complete. I cut 2 wires going into the rear hub and lost interest in fixing it. Being sold AS IS. Not shipping, no parting out either. Located in Norfolk, VA.

I pulled this off my RadRunner 1, and re-installed the stock LED display, before passing it on.  I lost the instruction sheet but I suspect that Rads site has a how-to video. It's basically plug and play. Will ship it thru USPS. Asking $20 plus shipping. Call dibs and PM me .

General Chat / Passed the RadRunner 1 on to a new owner.
February 14, 2022, 07:05:10 AM
I had this 'Runner for sale on this site and at work, sold it and ended up buying it back a month later. But I also ordered a Juiced RipRacer so I don't need 2 ebikes. A friend, that relies on bicycles for his only transportation, is getting messed with at his thrift store job. He found a job cleaning buses but it's a good distance from his place, so I gave him the 'Runner. There is no way he could ever afford one new, or even used, and I have the RipRacer coming. The new owner is short, in his early 60's and of average intelligence. I made sure he could:

Use the charger. Unplug it when it goes green.

Be able to get in in his apartment. Ground level but has 3 steps.

USE THE Pedego Foldy branded lock! DO NOT use a cheap cable lock.

Be able to open and securely close the SHAD trunk on the back.

Turn the lights on. I wish Rad would do auto-on and give you the option to turn them off if wanted.

I hope the 'Runner blesses him the option to find a better job. And he can visit his parents easier now. They live about 8 miles away from him. Plus the "Runner has fenders. Granted the wide tires still make a mess but the fenders stop the skunk stripe! My wife is betting on how long before he gets it stolen. I explained to him that this kind of thing will only happen once from me so don't mess up!

Side note: I purchased a E-Lux Malibu GT. It's now on consignment 400 miles later. Whoever put the word commute in the description for the Malibu should be slapped! It just wore me out on my commute and was a pig in tight spaces. Going out to cruise with some friends? It would exceed at that I guess. Finally the Dapu motor was crude compared to a Bafang motor.

General Chat / Weird how things go.
December 07, 2021, 12:03:17 PM
I purchased back my old RadRunner 1, the one I had listed on this site for sale awhile back. Gonna see if my friend will give it a try since he could really benefit from a ebike. Might be listing the upgraded display soon.

I might pick up another RadRunner 1. I miss mine. I'll need to purchase fenders, Tannus liners and seat and pogo post again. If I can save a few bucks that'll be great! Kicker is if I order another "Runner 1 I'll ride it for awhile, give it a good shake down (I know all the stuff that needs attention from my prior 'Runner) and possibly pass it onto a friend who could really use an ebike to help him get more mobile. But I really do miss my little 'Runner that I sold. Still a great bargain for the price.

Rad Power Bikes Classifieds / RadRunner 1 in Norfolk, VA.
September 27, 2021, 07:08:24 AM
Prefer local sale. Here's what I have. Purchased around Sept. 2020 Green RadRunner 1 with the following.
Upgraded Rad headlight and display.
Rad fenders.
Pogo post and Sella seat. Also have original.
SHAD SH34 trunk.
Hafny mirrors.
HipLok chain lock.
Tannus inserts.
New rear Rad tire.
Battery always looked after.
Never crashed and wheels true. No mystery noises.
Around 2500 miles, 400ish miles on the upgraded display.
Has some paint specs from riding thru someone spraying a fence white. Not super noticeable on the front. Might come off.
I travel to Grandy NC area, Richmond, VA area and soon Charlottesville, VA (pinball) so I could meet someone interested in those areas as well. PM me if interested. Will note when it sells.
Reason for selling is I bought a new ebike and wife has no interest in a ebike. Don't need 2 ebikes.
Asking $500 FIRM.

General Chat / I love cheap people.
September 27, 2021, 06:49:16 AM
So I replaced my RadRunner 1 with an E-Lux Malibu GT. Totally different ebike compared to the 'Runner but I really like it. So about cheap people..... I have a co-worker who's been looking into ebikes for over 2 years. He always says he waiting for the newest model to come out for the best value. Keep waiting and he'll never get one. So I tell him if he wants he can borrow my 'Runner for a few weeks and if he likes it its his for $500. It has the upgraded headlight, display, pogo post and nice seat (have original also), fenders, dual mirrors, SHAD 34 liter storage trunk, HipLok chain lock, Tannus inserts and a new rear tire. Battery has always been lovingly looked after. All keys, tool kit and owners manual accounted for. He never called about it. Had someone else interested but he asked if I'd do payments! It's $500, not $5000. Was going to give it to a friend but he can't lift it into his place and his 'hood is known for higher crime, so leaving it outside just won't work. I might try listing it here as well

General Chat / First flat with Tannus.
July 29, 2021, 06:36:55 AM
Yup, I woke up this morning to a flat tire. I have Tannus installed but I'm fully aware nothing is 100%. At least it was the front tire! Anyways, I gotta pull the wheel and see whats going on. I've come to the conclusion that the Kenda tire factory must be near the Laffy Taffy factory and get their rejects for Kenda puncture liners. I'll post my findings when I get it apart/fixed.

I purchased this for a RadMini STEP-THRU and ended up not installing it. I'm being lazy and the 'Mini ST owner will never go off road. It's white and comes with the zip-tie to mount the front half, and the rear half bolts to the rear fender bracket. Refer to Cascade Manufacturings web site for a picture and how it mount, very easy if your'e not lazy like me and don't mind the wires being "covered". It only works on the RadMini STEP-THRU, hence the all caps on the words STEP-THRU. Its a $20 value for free. Notify me you want it under this ad and PM/DM me your address. It'll ship cheap USPS parcel post from Norfolk, VA. First come/first served.

RadMini / Rad Mini Step Thru skid plate by Cascade.
April 25, 2021, 02:17:51 PM
I bought a white one and and just received it. Quality is pretty good, and the white finish is nice as well. You bolt one end on the lower fender mount and the other side goes between the sprocket and frame, and is held in place with a zip tie. It covers everything as advertised and was $20. I ended up not mounting it because I would have to remove the wheel to get the rear lower fender screw out. I'm being lazy and the Mini ST owner didn't care either way, so it will be coming up for FREE soon in the classifieds.

So I was trying to find a way to recycle my old grocery bag holder from my beach cruiser days. But the clips won't fit on the Rad racks because their to thick. So I stumbled upon these Knuckle things on etsy. This is a review for a product I have yet to install. Yes, very helpful. But I received them this Sunday and intend to get them installed within the next week. I ordered 2, one for my 'Runner rack and another for the 'Mini Rad in-house brand rack. I have my grocery bag holder I want to recycle and the lady I got the 'Mini for has a Sunlite bag she would like to use. I have to cut a section out of my SHAD motorcycle trunk base to make the Knuckle fit my 'Runner. But as soon as I get them installed I'll put them (Knuckles) thru my crazy riding (I joy ride the 'Mini when I visit!). Keep everyone updated....

Rad Modifications / Tannus install on 20" fat tires.
March 26, 2021, 08:37:59 AM
I installed the Tannus liners on the 'Mini this morning. Here's what I learned. I took a little over a hour to do both tires. I used baby powder to help with the install. I smell good right now! The supplied  inner tubes from Tannus have shorter valve stems than what was on the 'Mini, it didn't affect anything. Getting the valve stems back thru the rim was fiddly because the rim strips moved and the Tannus liners will try and block the valve hole as well. The last part of installing the tire is a pig! Watch the install video from Tannus, it helped. Now I have to do my 'Runner. Not looking forward to it. Oh, the back wheel nuts on the 'Mini were stupid tight! Like the Hulk installs them at the factory! When I got my first flat (always the rear wheel) on the 'Runner the provided "tools" got the rear wheel off. I had to use a 18mm fuel line wrench with a breaker bar slipped over it on the 'Mini. I hate the Hulk right now.....

I forgot we had a classified section, had it listed under Ryans free stuff. Correct 32mm size for most Rad Power bikes (double check because some older Rads and I think the Mission use another size). I hits the battery on the Mini Step-Thru because the clamp sits to low on the frame and I forgot why I didn't use it on my 'Runner. I did a bmx clamp with a HexLox on the 'Runner. Anyways, S.Y.S. seat clamp is in excellent condition, have both keys and the backing card with instructions. Call sold in reply section so I know you want it and PM me your mailing address. Will ship via snail mail/USPS. Again, FREE Save Your Seat seat clamp n 32mm size.

Whoever sees or gets a notification for Tannus 20x3.0-4.0 tire liners being in stock, please post under this thread! After I never got a email notification on my Rad Mini I have little faith being notified for Tannus liners. So lets stick together and keep watch together!

General Chat / Rad ebikes are like cats!
February 25, 2021, 08:18:41 AM
You cant have just one. Actually, I ordered a RadMini folder for my wifes sister. She is a retired master electrician (keeps her certs updated still) and has helped my wife and I rewire most of our house. I go under the crawl space and do the tight work but she does the actual hooking stuff up, the true skilled part of electrical work. She never takes any money offered but she's been wanting a ebike for awhile. So I got her a Mini. Weird side note. I checked the "Notify Me" section for when the Mini is back in stock on Rads website. Guess what, I never got notification. I only went on the site to order a spare 'Runner tire and noticed the Mini was in stock. So I ordered a Min, rear rack for Mini and my extra 'Runner tire. I'm going to put my extra Tuffy liner in the rear tire on the Mini to attempt to bullet proof it unless Tannus gets their 20" fat liners back in stock.

General Chat / Flats are the worst!
January 26, 2021, 11:30:04 AM
So I get a flat on the way to work. Again. This time the tire lost air instantly. I got to push a 'Runner 1 with a rear flat for 4.5 miles. The bead broke off the rim so I had to use the throttle to help get it going. Took me 2 hours. Luckily my work didn't care if I called in sick, and my boss offered to come out and rescue me if needed. So Im not riding the 'Runner till I get some extra flat protection. The government needs to put a $2 deposit on EACH beer bottle and $10 deposit on each hard booze bottle. Would deter the bums from breaking bottles on the side walks and gutters. But I've yet to check what caused the flat. Im gonna try Mr. Tuffy tire liners unless Tannus does a 20" liner for fat tires.

General Chat / Strange thing happened tonight!
January 04, 2021, 08:45:06 PM
So I'm riding along after work tonight around 10:30pm. I ride on the edge of the street and will bump onto the sidewalk if I see a car coming up in my lane. I watch my mirrors like a hawk. Tonight traffic was pretty dead, so I'm riding along and I notice a car creeping up behind me. I have my think gloves on but I slowly pull one off and clip it to my bars and grab my mace. The creeping car gets closer but has yet to pass me, so I jump on the sidewalk. Here we go! But, blue lights? It's a cop car! I get stopped and told to ride ON the sidewalk! The officer says she can't see my tail light vary well. It works great and I check it every night before heading home. She says she just doesn't want to see me get hit. So anyways, I can now ride ON the sidewalk in Virginia Beach! I just jumped back on the side of the road as soon as she pulled away but I did appreciate the concern. The sidewalks are like riding a bucking bronco in spots! Best part is she had no idea what a ebike was. Just couldn't grasp the description.

General Chat / Pabst Blue Ribbon????
December 16, 2020, 08:55:10 PM
The new Rad collaboration is truly weird. I rarely drink and if I do its beer. Never cared for Pabst. Quick story on Pabst. I was at an Agent Orange concert and it was "sponsored" by Pabst. A friend at work loves that beer and wanted one of the free beer cozies you got with a tall boy can purchase. So I got a Blue Ribbon just for the beer cozy. Then, because I was already drinking better beer I decided to at least finish the Blue Ribbon. It gave me super bad gas! I cut one at the side of the stage and the singer called the fart smell out! It was horrible, both the beer and farts! The singer remembered my fart when I showed up for another concert 2 years later! I'm the fart guy! Just add Pabst! My friend really loves her beer cozy! What other weird "sponsors" have you seen?

RadRunner / Upgrade display for RadRunner 1....
December 06, 2020, 08:28:56 PM
I'm tired of everyone asking me how many miles I have on my ebike, how far I've ridden in a day and more technical questions about power being used. I broke down and ordered the upgraded display for my RadRunner 1. As usual, 2 inner tubes (in stock) and the display was $25 to ship but I guess I gotta pay to play. It would be so nice if I hooked up the new display and all my prior miles were magically stored and somehow displayed but reality is it will start at zero miles.

General Chat / Winter is starting! Cold hand solutions?
November 19, 2020, 09:08:03 PM
I'm trying to ride year round but winter is slowly starting here. I normally have good luck with cheap hunting gloves with liners on my scooter, but the same gloves get cold on my ebike after 40 minutes. It takes 30 minutes on the scooter for my commute, but takes a hour on the ebike. I finally bought warm, water proof shoes, have a warm jacket and a liner for my helmet but my hands still get so cold! Anyone find warm gloves? Battery powered gloves? I don't care for bar muffs and heated grips never get hot enough. So what do you year round cold weather riders use?
