General Chat / Re: Battery Misreprentation?

So I understand we were supposed to get Samsung, Panasonic, or Lg batteries, how come on my 6+ battery it says manufactured by DLG, I googled the co and it's a battery company in China. Before I ever googled this co I called Rad and they said it was the battery container co which I'm guessing is BS
What's the deal rad? :-\

The cells inside are Samsung/Panasonic/LG, you are seeing the manufacturer of the outer battery case. Rad doesn't make their own battery cases, which is why you'll see a million different ebike batteries that look like the "standard Rad battery" hailong battery case.

For those of you who use a Dash Cam during your cycling commutes, which Dash Cam
and which attachment accessories do you guys suggest. Any guidance appreciated.

Thanks

Right now I have a old Samsung smartphone that I use as a dashcam in my car and on my bike using a tripod phone mount and a metal bracket I made from a scrap corner bracket that I had. I'll probably upgrade to a GoPro or cheaper alternative in the future.

RadRunner / Re: where'd you add your second battery?

I ordered a larger hailong style battery that I'm going to try to fit in the default Rad battery spot and put the stock Rad battery under the rear rack. Let's see how that goes.

General Chat / Re: Battery weight. Old versus new

The weight difference is negligible. 7.7lbs for the regular and 7.6lbs for the new integrated packs.

RadRunner / Re: Which 1000w upgrade roadrunner 1

Hello,  I was interested to know which motor and supplier sell the upgrade motor for my base model radrunner. I bought the 35amp controller from electrobike world but, it died on me last summer, I think it had something to do with riding through an extremely rainy day. In any case, I am in need something that has a little more get up and go!
  Thanks for any suggestions!

I placed an order for the 1000w motor from https://eunorau-ebike.com/collections/hub-motor/products/bafang-fat-bike-48v1000w-rear-hub-screw-freewheel-motor but have yet to receive it. Seems they are getting more from China so they are out of stock at the moment.

I've looked into mounting a second battery under the passenger seat myself but this limits the size/Ah of the new battery but the only other option is the front downtube or in my center console. Does anyone have pics of either of these areas having a battery mounted?

Just ordered the 1000w motor from eunorau and it still feels a bit daunting but I'm going to lace in this baby when I receive it!
I'm excited for you! One little thing to remember is those controllers have a little quirk than can catch you off guard. If you are cruising along on throttle only, and you begin pedaling, the controller will go full power regardless of throttle position. You'll probably get used to it, but it is something to warn others about if you let a guest use your bike.

Thank you for the heads-up! I'll have to test what you're referring to when the motor comes. I think they are shipping the motor from China.

General Chat / Re: Motor increase???

In the US most of the bikes have been 750W unless it was a Mission 1. Are you in Canada? RPB will post review videos across the US/CA sites which can be confusing since they'll reference the 750 motors when CA can only get 500watts.

Speaking of an aftermarket charger. What have you guys had luck with? I'm thinking of longer distance trips and I'd hate to have to sit and wait for Rad's 2amp charger to drip power back into the battery while I wait.

RadRunner / Re: Failed controller.

That sucks, I'm sorry. I could say something about the global supply shortage but you already know.

Unfortunately, the only options I have for you is to 1) wait or 2) Go for an aftermarket controller and display but that will mess with your service warranty and cost you $200ish for both.

Is this on the Radrunner Plus or Radrunner 1?

I see silver frame paint so it has to be the plus.

Rad Modifications / Re: Cut-off switch
November 11, 2021, 12:12:20 PM
Early Rad models came with a throttle cut-off switch but I heard that they had so many issues with their customers thinking their bike was broken when it was switched off that they just did away with it on newer models. lol

Nice, lovin' my 35a controller upgrade as well.  Still have the stock motor?
