Title: Magura MT5e Brakes
Post by: turbulent0flow on March 03, 2021, 02:51:33 PM
Hello!

Jumping in head first with my Rad Wagon 4 looking to upgrade the brakes.

I like the Magura mt5e Option, has anyone here used Magura on their Bike?

I need to know if I need the OPENER or CLOSER HIGO connector lever type, because its a German company the translation is a little off...

CLOSER = NORMALLY OPEN

OPENER = NORMALLY CLOSED

So does my RadWagon use "NORMALLY OPEN" or "NORMALLY CLOSED"?

Thank you

Hi

You need Normally open version.
I have installed MT5e's with Galfer rotors f223/r203.

JTK77,

Am trying to identify the Galfer rotors that you used but I am not sure of the exact model. F223/R203 do not give me any results.  Could you please advise me? Also, did you purchase them direct from Galfer?

Thank you,

George

Hi

You need Normally open version.

To clarify, if the MT5e model says it's "Higo-Opener" then it's the wrong one? 'Cause that's what I bought and is finally about to arrive ... from Germany...

Thanks.

You need Higo closer, normally open.
Opener is the wrong one.

Thanks. I realized I can switch the levers to Closer ones, but I may just send the whole system back. I'll have to do the math on what makes sense. Thanks again for your help.

I just purchased the higo Closer ones on Amazon, and I was wondering if they will work  straight away if I don't change the 180 rotors front and rear? Will I have to get an adaptor?

Thanks for the help.

You could use them straight but Maguras are designed to work optimally with 2.1mm thick rotors so Its would advice doing that.
