How loud was the electric bikes? I seen one not to long ago and it sounded like a weed eater. It was loud.

Jim
Most of them were normal, with whirring and gear noise. The only loud one was the Sur Ron, but it was stock and not too bad. The prototype bike was a direct drive hub motor, and it was silent. Of course, all the electric bikes we quiet compared to the gassers! I'll post a video or two when I get a chance.

Well, I'm a dumbass. I meant to say how loud was the gas bikes not electric.

Hello all! This is my first post and I have learned so much just being here a few days.  I am curious who owns one of the earliest Radrover bikes (2015-2016).  Chime in!

I was VERY fortunate and just picked up a near mint 2016 Radrover with 350 total miles on it for $600.  Seller was asking $900  and I played the waiting game.  I test drove, offered $600 (after seeming mildly interested) and left wishing the seller good luck.  I texted later that day that I would still buy for the $600.  The next morning I was picking up my "new" Radrover.  I have attached a picture; other than some surface rust on the gear sprockets (since removed), the bike looks and drives like new.  The tires have virtually zero wear, and the handlebars and seat look as new.

Since I got such a steal I am installing the Bolton controller/LCD mod and upgrading the brakes to Juin Tech M1 calipers.  The battery is holding charge very well, and given the low mileage it probably has not seen many cycles, so for now the battery will remain until I decide to do a 52v-20ah upgrade.

You got lucky with that one. Mine is a 2020 Rover 5 with 800 miles and I already have electrical issues. RAD was of no use. I emailed asking for parts availability and price but when RAD responded they said nothing on my request for parts and cost. I emailed again and the same thing.

I was running 20 PSI. Mine was completely flat. Tannus needs to be more up front about these inserts and not just put it in the instructions. I watched the video on how to install so I didn't read the instructions. If this info was on their web site I wouldn't of bought them.

I have a Rad Rover 5 but I have no way to transport it when needed. I have been looking at folding bike for a few months now. From what I have seen I can get a folding bike in either the trunk or back seat of my Camry. At least this way I can take it with me or to the shop. Being I really like my Rover I wanted to get another RAD but their prices are just to high for what you get. I have been looking at the Lectric XP 2.0. It's $600 cheaper. I do like the looks of the Expand 5 better but I think you get more bang for your buck with the Lectric.

Thanks

I had a piece if metal in my tire. I doubt the insert would of prevented the flat. There is no insert that will prevent 100 percent of all flats. Getting the flat was not an issue considering what I ran over and got stuck in my tire. Being I did have flat is when I seen that the insert was flat.

General Chat / Re: dang error 25
May 28, 2022, 01:16:28 PM
Look on RAD's site. There is a trouble shooting guide to help find the problem. I got error 25 and RAD said it's usually brake related and to do the trouble shooting guide on their site. I have been lazy so I haven't done the steps yet. Being the error went away after unplugging my tail light I have been putting it off. I haven't been in a rush being I didn't see replacement parts on their site. I emailed and asked about the parts but all they responded with was to do the trouble shooting. Trouble shooting won't do me any good if parts are not available.

UPDATE. I knew I read it somewhere, so I got out my Tannus installation guide and on page 3 under Tips For Installing Tannus Armour it states (It is common for the Amour to compress over time. It still is providing shock absorption and puncture resistance but will perform better when properly maintained. To minimize compression deflate the tires while not use. This allows the Armour compound to rebound to provide ideal performance.) So does that mean when your not riding your bike, your suppose to let the air out of the tires? I'm sorry but that's not happening. I don't know how everyone else feels, but if I would have known that earlier, I would not have purchased the Armours.

I could not find anything on Tannus website about delating. If I had known that I would not of bought the inserts. I think it's a shady business practice putting this in only the instructions. By the time you read this info, it's to late you have already bought them. This info should be on the main page of the tire insert. Actually I watched several videos on how to install the inserts so I did not read the instructions.

Also it says this on their website. So much for riding flat with a fat tire bike.

One of the great features of the Tannus Armour is that if you get a flat during the ride you can ride a few miles without hurting your rim.* However, if you do get a flat please avoid rougher terrain.

*Does not apply to the follow sizes: 20x3.0-4.0, 20x4.1-4.8, and 26x4.0-4.8.

Service & Repair / Re: Code 30 on Radrover 5

First time posting, so thanks for the acceptance.  I have a 2017 Radrover with a weird problem. The problem is sporadic.  I can be riding for an hour (More or less), then all of a sudden I feel the bike shutting down.  I look at the display and it shows ERROR CODE 30.  I turn the bike back on, sometimes it powers up for 15-30 seconds, then shuts down again.  When the display shuts down, I still have power for a short period of time, then shuts down completely.  I have communicated with Rad and went through the ERROR CODE 30 procedure, cleaned all the connections and terminals, but it still happens.  I am leaning to the controller and I asked how much and can't get an answer from Rad.  TIA

I got the same experience from RAD. I emailed asking if they still sell a controller and rear brake light for a Radrover 5 and RAD did not answer. They answered my other questions but would not answer for the controller. Mine is out of warranty.
