The forum has been abandoned.
Shutdown imminent.

This happened early this morning. I'm sure Ryan will take care of it. This Forum isn't going anywhere.

When I go to General Chat it's all in Chinese. Who is this babi2004 with 4278 posts... Looks like their account needs to be deleted.

Rad will not take them back with over 10 miles.

That's ridiculous. RAD should allow more miles than 10.

No, I don't need to do this as my battery is inside the bike and it is fully secured.

which bike do you have, and how are you fully securing the battery?

Is there really a Ebike that has a 100% secure battery? Even if there was the thief will just steal the whole bike. In this day and age if a thief really wants it they are going to take it.

I need some cash, can you send me a couple million? I promise to pay it back.

Sure!  How about some of the extra brides at no charge?  I can put them in a crate with some lettuce and air holes, and comfortably pad it with the cash.

I'll pass on the Brides. Just cash this time. ;D ;D

You see way more complaints about RAD because they're the biggest company out there. They sell WAY more bikes than anyone else, and of the hundreds of thousands of bikes they've sold, only a small - but vocal - percent are feeling wronged.

You have a point on that. I do believe I have heard 2 or 3 say they are the biggest Ebike company in the USA.  It's hard to know what the real percentage is for the different companies. Some won't put all the reviews on their website either, just the good ones. I have been wanting a folding Ebike so I have looked and looked, read reviews and watched Youtube videos. They all have similar complaints. Most of the Ebike companies pretty much probably get the same parts being they all have the same issues with their Ebikes. I almost decided on the Lectric XP 2.0.  The XP 2.0 has a good price point but after watching some videos I think I would disappointed with the 500W motor. So I have been looking for a for a folding bike with a 750W motor. Nothing in that price range of the Lectric XP 2.0. Everything I liked was above $1,600. Every time I look around I end up liking the RAD Expand 5 the most but after my experience with RAD I have A hard time actually ordering it.

If a RAD battery does 1,000 cycles it should of lasted more than 700 miles. If you get an average of 25 miles a ride and charge that would only be about 50 or so cycles. I can see a 12 month warranty on the bike but the battery should come with a longer warranty. My RAD rover 5 was 5 months past the warranty with 750 miles when I got Error 25 and the bike would not do anything. I unplugged the brake light and it's working fine. I unplugged the head light and plugged the tail light back in and got the error 25. I unplugged the wires going to the brake handles and still got the error. My thinking was maybe a controller or the brake light so I checked RAD's web site but did not see the controller or brake light listed so I contacted RAD and asked if they still sold the controller and brake light. RAD responded by saying I need to follow the trouble shooting guide on their site for error 30. I didn't want to spend the time and effort disconnecting all the plugs one by one if the parts were not available so I contacted RAD again on availability of the parts. They still would not tell me and said I have to do the trouble shooting first. I am not going to waste my time not knowing if I can get the parts and how much they cost so I just left my brake light unplugged.  I will continue to ride my RAD till it's stops working. Iv'e been wanting a folding Ebike but from the posts I see here and else where plus the bad BBB complaints I won't be buying another RAD.  That's too bad because I like the Radexpand 5. Also some of their design choices have turned out to be bad idea.

Jim

you just described the issues most ebike companies are currently having - Rad is far from the only one. From customer service to the lack of availability of parts, this is an almost industry wide issue.

Also, it's not 1960 anymore - the BBB is a useless, antiquated organization. From the pay-to-play scandal from about a dozen years back, to sutations such as this one: https://www.elliott.org/blog/better-business-bureau-ratings-mean-nothing/, the BBB is not in the least bit trustworthy.

Yes all companies are affected but I see way more complaints about RAD. The BBB is not useless. It's just one source of info on a company. You can also look at the different forums and Facebook.

RadRover / Re: Tannus on the Rad Rover 6 Plus
September 04, 2022, 11:55:56 AM
I bought Tannus for my Rover 5. About a year later I got a flat and the liners were flat as a pancake. Also it's buried on their site that riding on a flat does not apply to fat tire bikes so if you get a flat you are walking. No I'm not delating my tires just about every day.

I'm new to Rad. Have they always had this problem with accesories being out of stock? I'm on the emai notification list for a Rover rear rack and got no notifications that the rear racks were in stock. I found out through the forum. When I checked, out of stock again.  Seems like you almost have to check the web site every day or miss the boat.

I have a Rover 5 and just got tired of waiting for the rear rack to be available.  I bought and just received today a Ibera bike rack from Amazon and am super delighted with it.  Easy to install, I really like the looks and how it fits, it's construction and I particularly liked the price, $38.00.  You also have to buy an extension for the brake light and then mount the Rad rear light to the rack.  Took me all of about fifteen minutes.  If you want, I can take some photos of it tomorrow so you can see how it's mounted on the RAD.  The links are below.....

Be sure to order the blue color, (4 pin) with a 60cm/600mm length.... you will have about four inches to play with depending how you route it.

George

I bought the same rack from Amazon in 2020. The rack has been fine with no issues. I just bought another rack for my Trek bike. I can switch my panniers bags and trunk bag between the two bikes in less than a minute.

That was me.  The Nigerian prince finally came through with my $34.8 million inheritance, as promised once I shipped him the $150 handling fee and my oldest child, so I'm now in the loanshark business.  Gotta put capital to work, you know; savings accounts pay but a pittance these days.

Now my headache is all those Russian brides piling up on the doorstep.  I really need to stop answering emails.

I need some cash, can you send me a couple million? I promise to pay it back.
