Fender repair

On my Rad Rover the metal piece that holds the back fender broke (vibration) they are on back order so I thought I would weld or buy the metal wire it is made from and bend to fit.  Any thoughts, what size and type of wire is it made from?  Or is there a place I can buy it?  My cousin had the same thing happen to his Rad Rover but it was under warranty.  I had it on my bike rack and drove 1300 miles, on the way home I zip tied it in place which didn't allow it to vibrate.  This is a good solution if your taking it on a long road trip.
