The problem was corrected with the newer integrated batteries.

So you shouldn't have to worry.

I had a Rover 5 and day one I knew it had more power in there.  Within a few months I upgraded my controller.
It was a world of difference in the 2.

I highly recommend it.

I recently sold my Rover.  It had over 6000 miles on it.  It served me well.

I replaced with an even stronger bike by a different manufacturer.  Once I got hooked on the RAD upgrades I wanted more.  So I switched.

I doesn't make sense that it would be one piece because it has to go inside the frame.  I don't see how it would be possible.  It has to disconnect some where.  For mass market you won't have someone soldiering it.

Aftermarket controllers are plug in.  Where it plugs in on your model I don't know.  It will be somewhere on or near the battery cradle.

My Rover 5 is under the bike near the pedals.

Quote from: Benjamin J on September 11, 2024, 07:43:45 AMAlso, I thought I'd ask if the battery is hard-wired to the controller or is there a connector between the two?

There will be a connector between the controller and the battery cradle.

OK

maybe start a new ad and reword it.

may just say Working Rad City 5 wheel and motor and indicate approximate mileage.

Not sure what you are indicating.

What is the problem?  What do you want to achieve?

Rad sent exactly what to achieve what?

sell it as is.  you will be lucky to get $600.  and a new screen is going to cost $89.

I got $800 for my 2020 with updated controller, updated motor, and 52v battery.

I have done this upgrade before.  It made a big difference in performance.
I purchased from area13.  see link.

You have to get a controller and screen for this to work.

also you can try electro bike world

If you upgrade the motor from area13, you can also upgrade the controller for it to work. They usually carry them both.

Maybe it just needs to be cracked open to see if the gears have movement.  May be full of water.  May be corroded. May need to dry it out. May need more grease.

It takes a special star type fitting to open the motor. I think I picked mine up at Lowes for about $14 a few years ago.

Quote from: Ledbetter on August 30, 2024, 01:51:19 PMAfter only two days riding, I'm in the same boat. Rad told me they would send a replacement controller if I sent a photo of the error code 30 message on the display. After I sent it, they stopped communicating and still I wait. I can't believe they would send these out without testing, knowing that so many controllers are defective. Not to mention the hours-long diagnostic process they expect the customer to undertake before they'll provide the minimal assistance of sending a part that will require the customer to undertake another hours-long installation process. Shameful practices. I would not let a friend make the mistake of purchasing anything from Rad Power.

The only problems I had with my Rover 5 were flat tires and only on the rear.  But lots of people do have problems with different models.

Sounds like the controller.

Have you upgraded your headlight?

Area13 and electrol bike world usually carry an aftermarket controller.  It will give you one color display instead of 2, more power and speed.

Looks and sounds like the brake disc is out of alignment.

you can send the battery in for a repair.
there is a place in Colorado and one in California.
cheaper than buying a new one and you don't have to do the repair yourself.
#14
What does that mean?  photo maybe?  have you reached out to RAD for a clue?

It could possibly be the controller.  Which Rover do you have 5 or 6?
Both controllers should be available at AREA13 or electro world bike.

with the new controller you receive an NEW LCD as well.

this will boost your torque and increase top speed.

You can consult with AREA13.  They are good at communicating.
