General Chat / Re: Communicating with another rider

Our Sena helmets arrived on Monday and we were able to try them out yesterday. Just what I was looking for and better. They work so good and are comfortable. It took a little trial and error to figure out how to set up and use them following the directions but all is good. Thanks for the recommendation.  :)
Get the Sena app and it is easier to use the features on the helmets.

RadRover / Re: How can you raise the handle bars on a RR6+

I raised my rover 6+ but I was not able to raise it enough because the cables and hydraulic lines are not long enough. I am planning on replacing the brake lines and extending the cables as needed so I can raise it enough to be comfortable.

HiTrialsad,
How high were you able to raise the handlebars?
Or did you not proceed?

Thanks
Dale
I raised them but I didn?t measure it. Maybe a couple inches.

I just watched the video on installing the upgraded controller for the Rover 6+. It is in stock. Has anyone ordered one yet?

RadTrike / Re: Broken Trike
July 12, 2023, 06:26:16 PM
I took some pictures into the Berkeley Rad store and they gave him a replacement brake assembly under warranty. Hopefully we can keep the sprocket from coming loose again with some blue locktite.

RadTrike / Broken Trike
July 07, 2023, 07:59:09 PM
My brother was riding his trike around a corner and the rear end siezed up and broke some welds. We looked at it and the secondary sprocket had come loose and moved sideways. That caused the small chain to bind so when he tried to pedal it put stress on the brake drum and broke it.

It looks like several different brands should fit. This one https://amzn.to/3NpHizI
claims to fit the Rad Rover. I was expecting something 6 inches long not 32. I wonder what?s worse, splicing in a cable the perfect length or plug n play that?s way too long.

Any chance the 32 is long enough to do the job and could just completely replace the original?  Not familiar with that bike model's wiring.
I suppose it?s possible. I?ll have to measure it.

I searched for Rad Rover 6 plus cable and several choices are available. Hopefully I can determine if they are the right size for my bike. I?ll be really happy if I can solve my problem. Thanks.

I didn?t know the cables were generic enough or popular enough to be sold on Amazon. I?ll take a look. Thanks.

The Rad Rover 6+ has hydraulic brakes and the I think the lines would be easy to replace. It is the electrical cables that are the problem for me. The wires go down the handlebar to the controller. I assume the connectors are not going to be found on a generic cable. I don?t know if it is possible to splice in a section of wire to add length.

I raised my handlebar on my Rad Rover Six Plus but had to bring it down a little because the cables were stretched tight with the wheel turned all the way. I want to raise it more so I can sit more upright and take the pressure off my wrists. Does anyone have any ideas on how to lengthen my cables so I can raise my handlebar higher? Rad said they can?t help. It?s too bad they don?t sell a cable extension.

The riser I started with has a shape that tapers down from the section that fits over the stem to the section that the handlebar fits over. That taper prevents the handle bar from going as low as it might otherwise. I replaced it with a riser that has a straight edge transition so I was able to raise the handlebar less. That gives me increased height without causing my lines to stretch too tight.

Service & Repair / Re: Air in my brake line
March 09, 2023, 08:07:38 PM
So I took it into the Berkeley Rad store and got it fix under warranty. There was a screw that was damaged allowing air to enter the system. They replaced the the whole rear brake system I believe.

I didn't look for a stem exactly for the 2021 Radrover 5, but I usually follow one rule: when choosing a bike stem, it?s important to measure your frame?s length and compare it to the specifications provided by the manufacturer. A good general guideline is to choose a stem that?s about 1 inch longer than your frame?s length.
You?ll have to clarify that. I can?t figure out how you can get a stem that is longer than the bike.
