Puppy pouch showed up today.  Only took 10 days.

This is my puppikins from the day we got her back in april.  She's bigger now, but fits in the bag if she goes in butt first.  She was a little scared at first, but she enjoyed her first ride around the park.

Do you see that black part with the 3 legs on the left side of each motor?  That's the hall effect component.  I'd bet it's a fairly common device that could be easily replaced if you just have a soldering iron and some solder wick to remove the old solder.

Anyone know if this is compatible?

It would be nice to have a source for such a cheap part that ships faster than RP.

Gave up being on hold after every 15 seconds it telling me to use their call back service.

They called a few minutes ago, I explained the problem and they're sending a new PAS out.  Hopefully they send it by Pony Express so it gets here faster than FedEx Ground.

Currently in on hold hell right now with tech support about this.

Anyone know of any compatible PAS sensors that work with this bike so I don't have to wait 2 weeks for them to ship one out?

FedEx ground sucks.

The point is:
1. It's just one more thing that I need to carry.2. It's another point of possible failure.3. Going from DC to AC to DC is terribly inefficient.4.  There should be a direct DC charging solution available.  While there are some out there that claim to be the right thing, I don't believe they can be trusted until the bike manufacturers come out and say they've tested them and they're good to go.
I've seen the various youtube videos of people claiming that they have a working solution.  Then when you start digging into the products they've used you find out that they're not what they claim to be.  As in, they're not true MPPT devices.
Between the price of the batteries and the potential for fire for doing it wrong, I'd rather have the company say this is the correct device, instead of cobbling something together.  Trust me, I'm not against cobbling something together, I regularly design and build my own IOT devices, but making something like this is beyond my abilities.  Nor do I want to take on the liability if I screw something up.

RadRover / Re: What charging should look like...

If the battery is warm, as in you just brought it in from a ride, and try to charge it, it seems to wait until it cools before it starts charging.  You'll see a green light immediately and then a while later it'll switch to red.

That's what I noticed with mine.

A properly designed charging circuit, shouldn't require a "proper" sequence to charge.  If it is recommended that the battery be plugged in first, then the charger to the wall, then I have to wonder what they did wrong in the design of the charging circuit.

Maybe it's worth doing a controller upgrade then getting a different type of sensor, saw Grin Tech do a video on it the other day.

It certainly piqued my curiosity, maybe if I feel like my 35A controller isn't enough someday

I may actually consider going through all that, including the controller change out when/if support from RP completely fails me, or they stop supplying spare parts.  As it came out of the box, I'm fairly happy with it.  Customer service from RP leaves much to be desired though.

Good, ordered the Park when I ordered the tools.
No response from RP on my open ticket yet.

I don't mind buying oddball tools, have a garage full of them.  What kind of grease should I use to repack it?

I ride my bike to work, the route that I normally take is 10.5 miles, today I made it there in 6.5 miles.  I rode the same route both days.  I noticed that my PAS wasn't engaging the way it did when the bike first got here.  It's a bit of a delay when it engages.  Also, while riding out today, I was stuck to 20mph even though I have the speed cranked up the whole way.  I did double check to make sure it's still set up, and it is.

I'm thinking it's a bad cadence sensor.  I read through the trouble shooting steps from Rad's site, but since I don't have a magnetic sensor I don't know where else to look.  I did open a ticket with RP, but thought I'd like to get opinions from here first.  If I have to replace the cadence sensor, I'll have to buy a crank tool.  Anyone got recommendations on what to get for that?

Hello,
I recently ordered a Rad6 Plus. I live in Florida and the bike shipped in 2 days and will arrive in 5 days.
I hope I can assemble it! :)
Jim D.

Not sure if serious or not, but assembly is simple.  The only real gotcha is to make sure you open the brake calipers a bit before inserting the rotor.  Make sure you adjust them properly before your first ride.

This is how I charge my battery after riding to work.  I should not have to go through an inverter, there should be a device, that's "certified" by RadPower and other Ebike manufacturers that can charge from a DC source, such as a vehicle, or solar.

To have to go through and inverter is a terrible waste of efficiency.  Every time you convert DC to aC there's a loss in power.  In the case of the setup pictures, I'm going from 12VDC to 110VAC back to 52VDC.

I looked for a while, and I cannot find any clean and guaranteed device that will go from 12VDC to 52V with the correct charging profile for these batteries.  Yes, I'm aware there are devices that claim to do it, but they all come from China and there's no guarantee that they are, what they say they are.  The consequences of plugging in an unknown device could be dire.  From destroying the battery to burning your house down.

There's also a certain level of irony of Ebike manufacturers requiring the usage power plants to charge the bikes and not making it so that the end users can use solar in a safe and efficient way.  We shouldn't have to cobble something together, hope it works and doesn't burn up.

I ordered my bike at the beginning of July, as well as a pile of accessories.  They broke it out in 3 shipments.  Bike in one, fenders in another, light, control panel, basket and bottle/cage in another.

The bike arrived 2 days early, but signature was required for delivery.  FedEx ground didn't bother to get a signature, just dumped the bike on the front step and left.  No knocking no bell, nothing, just left it there.  Fortunately I was home and retrieved it right away.  If Radpower is paying for signature service, I bet they're getting ripped off across the country.

The fenders, had a shipping label created the same day, but then wasn't put on a truck for 7 days.  I don't know if that's due to Radpower failing to put it on a truck or if FedEx just didn't stop by and pick up it.  They showed up a week after being put on the truck.

The rest of the accessories were put on a truck 2 days after the bike was, which was 4 days after the order.  They then sat in Oregon for 3 days before moving again.  They showed up a week after finally moving from Oregon.

I recently ordered some spare parts to have on hand considering my experience with my initial order.  A pair of tires and tubes, a pair of rotors and pads.  I don't want to have to wait for things to arrive, I'd rather have them on hand immediately.

That order has been split into two packages, both of them are currently sitting at Label Created, which means they haven't been picked up yet.  The order was placed on 7/22.  One is expected 7/30, and the other 8/1.  I won't see either on the expected dates.

I contacted RPCS on my initial order when things when awry.  They wanted me to believe in 2022, that it takes 5 to 10 days for information to appear in the tracking system.  Even though the label created information was basically instantaneous.  That was an obvious blow off by their CS department.  I never could get a straight answer out of them about why the packages were late.  Honestly, it isn't my responsibility to contact FedEx either, I'm not FedEx's customer, I'm RadPower's customer, and FedEx ground is pissing off their customers.  They should be contacted FedEx about those issues.

So far, 5 out of 5 packages have been screwed up in one way or another.

I didn't like the basket mounting across the frame, so I 3D printed some brackets to hold it inline.  I used ABS which I then smoothed with acetone, and they work, but I suspect they're not going to last forever.  I contacted a machinist friend and sent him the STL file of the parts and he's going to make them on his CNC.  I'll then have them anodized.

1. Is that the RAD Branded Large Basket?
2. How noticeable is it when riding to have that basket right against the seat?

Yup, it's the RAD basket.  I have the seat up just a bit over the top of the basket so that I don't really notice it there too much.  If it gets to be too bad, I can slide it back on the brackets I made.

I also ordered a pair of motorcycle cargo nets to hold my daily bag in there as well as my 40oz coleman tumbler.  Today I carried an inverter and charger with everything else so I could charge while I was driving around.
