General Chat / Re: Rad Power Bikes New Model Discussion 2024
« on: March 08, 2024, 06:51:51 AM »
The new models do look good  , the thing is going to be if they are problem plagued and customer service. I have bought 4 ebikes since I got my Mini 4 , 2 for gifts.  None have been another Rad because of customer service. I can figure out most problems the one time I needed help useless.
I did not want to be everyone's mechanic for gift bikes. I bought 2 lectric xp lites for gifts , unbelievable customer service, sent free parts for a accident when I said I will pay. I bought 2 Gotrax for myself because of simplicity and price. Zero problems on any.

RadMini / Mini 4 tire recommendation
« on: March 08, 2024, 06:34:32 AM »
I have the Cst big boat tires now. I was never real confident with them off pavement. I recently bought a lighter bike for short trips because the Mini is a pain to get out of the house. My Gotrax came with a knobby tire that has been awesome on grass and gravel. Noise doesn't bother me and a little range loss is no big deal.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for something more aggressive?

Rad Modifications / Re: 52v battery w/ RadRunner 3+
« on: January 26, 2024, 08:32:09 AM »
UPDATE:  I got the https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit and this worked juust fine on my RadRunner 3+.  Stock 500w motor is happily dirven w/ either the 48v or 52v battery.

Wait doesn?t the RR 3+ come with the 750w motor?
I think Rad called some Bafang motor 750 watt when that may have been the peak wattage.  I have seen some YouTube videos of putting a real 750 wattage Bafang in Rad Mini 4. In a side by side comparison there is a significant size difference.

General Chat / Re: Rad's New Pricing
« on: January 21, 2024, 06:24:34 AM »
I have a 2021 Mini 4 , good bike. Within the past year I have bought 3 new bikes and one scooter.
Two of the bikes were gifts for first time ebike users. I looked for ease of maintenance and pricing of batteries and original purchase.  Gifts were two Lectric lites. Lectric hit the entry market perfect with this bike and pricing across the board f or accessories and batteries.
Rad needs a Mission replacement lite bike under a grand.
When I do get a bike to replace my Mini there are too many better options at equal or lower pricing.

I have a Rad Mini 4 , wish I would have got a step thru.
I have a front and rear basket,  I use Clevermade collapsible milk crates so when not in use I fold them down.
I would suggest to check area bike shops to see if you can get a Rad serviced if needed. I have done all my repairs myself.
The biggest negative is weight of the bikes. I keep mine in my house and getting it in and out with the few steps I have is a pain. I only use it for long rides now , I bought another bike for shorter trips that is about 25 lbs lighter and hardly use the Rad.

About a year ago I bought what I think was one of my best upgrades for my Rover 5. It's a dropper seat post. I like to have my seat very high while I'm riding, but low for mount/dismount. This seat post lets me do that with a push of a lever on my handlebars. I can move the seat height up and down easily while I'm riding at any time. I've also found that when I'm on long rides adjusting it up/down helps when my butt and knees start to get sore. This let's me ride farther. It's not cheap, but it's been worth the price for me. For my 2020 Rover 5, I bought the middle routing 27.2mm one. I don't know if the seat post size on the Rad Mini ST is the same 27.2mm or not. I believe it is.

I also wanted to move my handlebars back closer to me. For that I used this adjustable handlebar stem. For my Rover 5  I bought the  Length: 95 Millimeters | Size: Handlebar Diameter 31.8mm/1.25" one.

I agree about the dropper post, have one o each of my bikes  love them.]

I enjoy working on mine , realized after I got it problems would arise. Headset bearings were crushed ,Rad wanted me to video the noise ,one hand and a phone was not happening. Replaced my self.
Controller would cut in and out , replaced with a 35 amp one.
The worse problem was my fault. I knew to torque every thing, my back wheel was finger tight. One day on a ride on wet roads I made a left turn and a immediately fell. Lost a kickstand bolt.
I love my Mini but I buy Lectric for gifts.  XP LITE is just a regular bike that uses parts I can find anywhere.
I don't want to work on gifts , as a side note one I bought got hit by a car, rider ok. Both cranks bent emailed Lectric for pricing ,sent pedals ,cranks and tools free.

I love my Mini , never had luck with tech support.
I didn't mind the weight until I got impaled by the bike. I only keep my bikes in my house and the Mini became to heavy for short trips.
So one day I rode my old Trek mountain bike, I was amazed how good not having the weight was.
I Saw a Area 13 video about a cheap Amazon bike ,Gotrax F1. I bought it and it is awesome I can hit trails that the Mini was to big for.
I still use the Mini for long rides but under 50 lbs.is alot of fun. Rad  needs to bring a light weight bike out

So 2 years into my Mini.
Unless you are mechanically  inclined, Rad is a bad buy.
I recently bought 3 bikes in the past year 2 for gifts  one amazing choice I took on Amazon.
One I gifted got hit by a car.
I contacted Lectric for prices  free

So I have the electro bike world  35 amp controller.  After  25 attempts of setting it up I only ride in Pass 1 at 15 mph showing 95- 110 watts.  2021 Mini 4 . My battery  After 20 miles still 50 with a voltmeter check. WHY.

General Chat / Re: Which Rad Power Bike should you buy?
« on: July 16, 2023, 05:29:22 PM »
I have a 2021 Mini 4 , took awhile to work out the initial problems.  I would not buy another Rad bike , competition is much stronger now and there are better built bikes available at significantly lower prices.

Also looks like the downtube is big enough to stuff the controller in there like the new Rovers etc.  Another step down the road of making it more difficult to mod/hotrod the line?

Now let's guess price ..... I'll open the bidding at $1,699 as 'Lectric rubs their hands together in glee.
I agree I would buy an Lectric if I needed a new bike. Their new cargo bike with the dual batteries and up to 150 mile range is 1699. They are killing Rad price wise. I bought a XP lite for a gift. Quality was much better than my Mini.
