General Chat / Re: RAD pulling out of Europe
July 10, 2023, 05:53:00 AM
Just got the email this morning 'We are sad to say goodbye'

The two year warranty on my RadfRhino 6 + is up next month, so I'd be on my own anyway, they are knocking off €600 off the RadfRhino 6 + and €570 off the RadCity 5 + bit of a bargain there, obviously getting rid of existing stock, although I'd say the support would be pretty lacking to say the least.

Oh well goodby to RadPower bikes in the EU.

Service & Repair / Re: Choosing a tire pressure
March 13, 2023, 04:46:07 PM
Initally I couldn'd see where the psi was printed on the tires so just opted for 25 psi, it seems to be a good choice for mixed surfaces, looking at my tires I'm thinking I'll need to replace them soon!

In my motorcycling days I remember seeing clothing including gloves that could be heated with a small current of electricity from batteries, Havent seen anything like that since tho.

I'm in the helmet wearing brigade. Always wore one, been riding motorcycles up to a while back and had several actually, since I got my Rad bike I always wear it, even for short spins.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

I have yet to see another Rad in Copenhagen (except for my partner's that is).

Are we the only two Rad owners around?

PS: The Danes keep saying "wow" when we zoom past them...  8)
Same here! I'm the only one in my area that has a Rad bike, lots of admirers tho.

Good idea about where your from with a avatar pic...

RadRover / Re: how do you lock up your RR6+ step thru?
November 13, 2022, 07:44:35 PM
I have the Kryptonite thats mentioned here,  the 90cm one, anything shorter you'll struggle to get it around the frame and a post or whatever. It's very heavy tho and can be a bit fiddly to secure around things, but as others have said it's an expensive bike so well worth it to secure it.

I'm in Ireland and RAD Europe were out of stock, so after enquiring, they recommended these:-   https://www.mantel.com/ie/jagwire-pro-semi-metallic-disc-brake-pads

Oops!, I didn't realise that the page was in Dutch. When I was ordering, i had chosen the language dropdown and selected Ireland.
I've got the brakes but still haven't fit them yet!

i'm about 172.72 Cm (5'.8") and 70 Kg (154 Lbs) very hilly area so lots of DH trails.

I have replaced the front brake already and theres not much remaining on it, the rear is due to be replaced now, I have 2,900 Km clocked up so this is pretty ok.

Radpower advised me to get these brakes for the RR 6+  https://www.mantel.com/jagwire-pro-semi-metallic-schijfremblokjes

General Chat / Re: Anyone get through to EU Support?
November 08, 2022, 01:00:21 PM
Maybe I've been lucky, they seemed to be pretty quick to reply any time I needed something. Last time was this month - I needed brakes replaced but they weren't in stock according to their site, so I used their Supporrt page European Help Centre and submitted a request using the form on the page, I sent it 31 Oct 2022, 10:34 pm CET

and received a reply;

I have these https://www.360cycles.ie/sunglasses-madison-darc-triple-set.html
No frill item with three different shades, in the Summer keeps the flies and bugs out of your eyes, in the Winter keeps the cold air etc. out too. They can be completely disassembled for packing away as well.

How To Information / Re: Bike Lock
October 10, 2022, 07:48:28 PM
What I got was a Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 1090 Anti-Theft Chain 90cm long it's heavy tho!
I don't leave the bike unattended for long and usually leave it where there are security cameras etc.
