You will not be able to charge both batteries at the same time, just use them at the same time.  Most batteries are charged via a separate connection anyways.  For my setup, I have two 52v 20ah batteries that I use in parallel with a dumb cable, and I carry two chargers, one for each battery.  The reason why charging should be separate is because as one battery completes its charge, it will take less current in and the remainder will be dumped to the less charged one, and if you are using a high current charger (a fair assumption given you are trying to charge two batteries in parallel), the high current to one battery will be detrimental.

Reporting back:  The https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit works well on the Rad Runner 3+, and now I can use either the stock 48v battery or my 52v battery.

UPDATE:  I got the https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit and this worked juust fine on my RadRunner 3+.  Stock 500w motor is happily dirven w/ either the 48v or 52v battery.

Since both of your batteries are the same voltage (48v), you don't need the Datex2.  The amazon option is fine, and actually you could just get away with connecting the batteries directly in parallel (which is what I do using this - https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/battery-accessories/dualbattcable.html).

My assumption that the controller is at fault for not passing power to the motor at 52v is a hunch tbh.  I ordered the ElectroBikeWorld kit after speaking with them about RadRunner 3+ compatibility.  However it turns out, I'll report back here.

Re: the motor, I may replace this at some point.  For now, running the 52v batteries is for range primarily, and the fact that they are 52v means the stock Rad Power controller will not pass power on to the motor.

I apparently made the mistake of buying the notoriously difficult to modify RadRunner 3+ and I'd like to change the controller+display to accomodate a 52v battery.  I see that ElectroBikeWorld has this: https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit but of course that is for the RadPower 6+.  Anybody know of a good option for controller/display updgrade to accomodate a 52v battery for the RadRunner 3+?

Hey all,

I've adapated a 52v battery to my RadRunner 3+ (everything else stock - display, controller etc).  Display turns on but I get no ppower to the motor from throttle or peddling.  Do I need to change the stock controller?
