Title: I Made a Charging Station for Our Bikes
Post by: JimQ on May 13, 2023, 08:17:18 PM
My wife and I both have Rad bikes. To charge our bikes, we had cords everywhere. So I made a charging station so both bikes can be charged at once and charging time controlled independently with countdown timers. Relatively cheap and easy to make. Most everything from our local Henery hardware store except the $10 timers online, and parts I already had for various reasons. The oval cutout at the top is a handle to ease moving it around.

No big deal, but it is a convenience, so I thought I'd share.  Pictures attached.

You've inspired me.

Like you, I charge with a timer, and I use two other items: a multimeter and a watt meter. I use the multimeter to check battery voltage before and after charging. The watt meter shows how many watt-hours I've put into the battery, and if the green light comes on the charger and the watt meter still shows more than the usual green-light watts, I know to leave it charging because it's equalizing.

That adds up to a lot of items to collect for charging, and I have to find a place to put them where they won't be knocked to the floor. A stand like yours would be a big improvement.

Thanks handlebar.

I'm not as detailed about charging as you. My motivation was to tidy up the cords, which it does. I thought about a drop-cord scenario, but that came with its own complications as well.
