General Chat / Speedometer / Tracking App Suggestions?
December 12, 2020, 12:54:03 AM
Curious what speed or tracking apps you guys are using that you like?
I'm on an Android device btw and looking for some cool/useful apps when riding.

Hey Steve, I still have mine too.  I hardly even used mine.  Mine still has the screen wrap on it as well.  I almost immediately swapped it out for the Bolton as soon as I got my RR.

Rad Modifications / Re: Rover Step-Thru Upgrades

I have a Canadian 2020 RadRover fat tired step through with the upgraded bolton Lcd & controller.
It's stock setting listed the L3@0  &  the L4@0. Some American videos on adjusting the controller for erratic speed readings have recommended trying L3@1  and  L4@5. I was doubtful about this especially for the smaller Canadian 500w motor but I tried it.
While that change didn't seem to make any appreciable difference, my controller will now not let me reset the L4 back to L0.
I am obviously not recommending anyone else try this in case the same thing happens to them
but has anyone else already had this experience and been able to correct it again?
I've gone back through Boltons and the manufactures instructions but nothing seems to indicate how to correct this.

I'm not sure which settings those are on a Canadian version, but I was having the same issue with my speedo also and Bolton suggested to
make these adjustments below.  After making the adjustments, the erratic speedo isn't AS bad but it's still not perfect.  I switched it back to the settings I had as these settings they
gave me cuts down on the instant torque.  Hope this helps you.

RadRunner / Bolton upgrade?
November 25, 2020, 01:02:20 AM
Anyone install the Bolton upgrade kit on their RadRunners?  More I see these the more I want one now, but can't believe ship date isn't until March :(

Oh thanks!  Front hub motor?..not sure I understand what part you're referring to.
On a previous post, you wrote "Now, given that I have a 1000w hub motor in rear, AND a 1000w hub motor in front, I may be stretching it a bit"
I assumed you were going for all wheel drive!

Oh I don't think that was me.  I just have the one stock motor in the back.

Nice setup with the brake sensors! Do you have a picture of your front hub motor? Sound interesting. Do you cruise control on the new controller? It's one of my favorite features.

Just a quick update.  I finally received the higo brake sensors from China...took forever!  I'm surprised no one in the US carries these.  I was able to mount these to my Shimano brake levers without any issues.  I used JB Weld to glue the sensor and the magnet and it works perfect!

I agree with Ryan.  I'd go RRunner Plus.  If I could go back I would've gotten the RRunner Plus for sure.

Rad Power Bikes Classifieds / Buyer beware!
November 11, 2020, 02:49:02 AM
I had an unfortunate transaction with a fellow member on here recently.  You can see my post here:  https://www.radowners.com/index.php/topic,541.0.html
His forum name is Frank717.  He referred me to someone - colethomas717@aol.com who had a rear rack for sale that I wanted.  I ended up sending him the funds via Paypal and since then never heard back from him and no rack was ever sent to me.  I must admit I should've been more careful.  I shouldn't have sent him the funds as Friends and Family.  I was just trying to be kind to cover the fees so he didn't have to and I was just too trusting I guess.

So learn from my mistake fellow Rad owners and be careful with this person on here.  If you purchase anything on here or any forum for that matter, don't ever send funds as Friends and Family because you can't dispute it.  Also, if anyone ever says they 'know someone else', please be careful.

I'm assuming this is the Bolton upgrade?  I didn't quite have 'wheel popping' torque like you.  Maybe because you have the RadMini.  Did you notice any speedometer issues?  With mine, I couldn't get the MPH to stop jumping all over the place.  It seemed just buggy to me.  Other than that I love the upgrade.

Service & Repair / Re: Help Bleeding Brakes
October 29, 2020, 01:42:14 AM
Not sure what bleeding kit you have, but I have the Shimano one and I just bled my hydraulic brakes just fine.  Did you use the syringe to push oil through the line to the cup attached to the lever?

Anyone find any good replacement handlebar grips?

We're loving this bike!! Here's the unboxing and installation of the Rad Power Large Platform and a Saddleman Motorcycle Pet carrier onto my RadWagon 4.

There are 2 positions you can install the large platform onto the RadWagon 4. I chose closest to the rider so the tail end of the bike is less heavy for turns etc. And so that I can reach Gizmo Biker Dog to pet while riding :

That is so dang cool!  Thanks for sharing that!  I wish I could take my little Frenchie like that.  I'm just so worried she would jump out.
