Hi 1Eye - I'm happy to hear your report. Let me offer you a few comments. For your wife - start in PAS 2 to make everything EASY as she adjusts. It will NOT run away at that assist level. You might also have her use the throttle a bit to work an adjusting to BALANCE and the size of the thing (I called my Rover "Godzilla). If she doesn't adjust to the thing, sell it and get her a Mini step-thru. If your fingers hurt on a Rover, I would BET it is because of tense hands. Once you have a lighter grip, the bike's grips are quite comfortable. "Light hands, heavy legs", as the saying goes. Take some easy practice rides to practice keeping your hands relaxed.

If you ride at night, FORGET the Rad light and buy a higher powered rechargeable headlight. I don't even use my Mini's lights any more. If you and she are going to ride together, it would be advantageous to have mirrors on BOTH sides. When your "wingman" is behind you on the right side, you want to be able to see them!

Best of luck, and HAVE FUN.

Without spending significantly more, it is hard to beat the Mirrycle of Hafny mirrors.

General Chat / Re: Premium Headlight now Available
June 24, 2020, 03:40:30 PM
After seeing Ryan's excellent video, I have to say that I think the Rad Premium headlight is a WASTE OF MONEY. It is, in fact, an improvement on the headlight that came with my 2020 Radmini4, but if I ride at night, it is NEARLY USELESS for lighting up the road. I have numerous after-market bar-mounted lights, all purchased for well under $50, that give MUCH BETTER LIGHTING. All are rechargeable, and although they do not have the CONVENIENCE of running off the Rad's battery, they have multiple lighting modes. In particular they have excellent FLASHING modes for daytime visibility. I usually do NOT even turn my mini's lights on any more.

By searching on Amazon or eBay, you can find MUCH BETTER LIGHTS for less money. The trade-off is you will need to recharge them.

Rad Modifications / Re: Handle bar -Bar Ends

They COULD work, but you would probably end up changing grips. The stock grips would be pretty tricky to cut down. If you are fond of multiple hand positions, consider an after-market bar set. Jones, Surly and Origin8 are easily available. The Surly Moloko has numerous hand positions once they are properly installed.

If I had regular road tires, I would like that pump. But my Radmini with fat tires would DO ME IN if I had to pump one up after repairing. I carry the Pro Bike Tool CO2 inflator and SEVERAL CO2 cartridges. Just easier.

General Chat / "Loop" handlebars
June 10, 2020, 07:54:14 AM
Has anyone had any experience with the "loop" style handlebars other than the Jones? When I position my hands for where I think they would be on the Jones (45-degree sweep-back), I am uncomfortable with the position. Anyone tried either the Surly Moloko (34-degrees) or the Origin8 Strongbow bars (19-degrees)? It's a "guessing game" trying to simulate various bar positions in the garage, just leaned up against a wall! Thanks for any information!

Rad Modifications / Re: Turn signal lights
June 06, 2020, 01:37:32 PM
I have the Lumos helmet that Ryan mentions, and have also had a couple of "bike turn signal" systems. My wife, who usually FOLLOWS me, says NONE of those have much visibility, and that arm signalling is still MUCH BETTER. Remember that to most car drivers, bicycles are INVISIBLE things, so MORE IS BETTER with any kind of signals. I am particularly intrigued by the recent turn signal gloves I've seen advertised, but I won't spend the money until I am CERTAIN they would actually accomplish something.

At night, ANYTHING may work, but in daylight, NOTHING seems to work.

I do not know this electric pump, but I favor that sort or CO2 cartridges, because pumping up my fat tires with a hand pump is NOT FUN. Depends on the tires, though.

An option that I am trying is the Roswheel Essentials Series Bike Handlebar Bag (Amazon: https://amzn.to/3cQHvaG), which puts the phone up high enough to see easily. The Rockbros bag will require a sharp look DOWN, something I don't want to do. However, I am also thinking about switching to the Surly Moloko bar system, which will change everything.

Well, I just HAD to do something custom, and I do not like orange.

Bob Mc - how did you mount these?

I cut it up, but saved 2 large pieces to use when I fold the Radmini up. These will protect the paint, and the car interior.

I subsequently found this Suunto on Amazon. It has its own wrist band, which would keep it OFF the metal of the bike. Not sure how much that distance would matter, though.

Juiced RipCurrent, Cyrusher XF800, Blix, Ecotric and a few others I don't recall.

Does anyone have any comparison photos of the light patterns of the premium headlight vs. the standard Rover or mini light?
