Rad Modifications / Re: Portable pumps
July 15, 2021, 09:05:51 AM
I had bought a "Xiaomi Mi Pump Air Compressor" and it's the best thing ever. It takes a few seconds to pull the tire pressure to my target and I haven't re-charged it more than 2 times in the 7 months I've been using it. I feel it's a great value for money, not sure if it exists on US shops

Hi All!

I have a eggrider v2 on a EU Radwagon 4 and it works perfectly.

I had one of the EU Rad Rhino 750w and the radwagon 4 with the eggrider gives you a similar feel in terms of power and speed.

Could you guys share your eggrider settings? Mine seems to never show 100% battery charge and I think than I could tweak the settings to get better range...

I just read about the Rad Power settings in the new firmware. How you set it up?

Thanks!

The settings differ from model to model - I got mine from the Eggrider FB group!

What are the battery settings you have set?
I have mine @ 39V for 0%, 54.2V for 100% and 14Ah capacity

Could it be that your battery no longer reaches the voltage you have set?

Eggrider V2 works great with EU RR(+) ( And I don't foresee anything different for the radmini )!

I've logged about 1090W peak power output on some steep hills and hit ~41km/h ( in a controlled environment )

PAS difference will need time to get used to, but I'm fairly happy and have logged 830km with it already :)
Wow, impressive! Is that with only the EggRider, or were other changes made?

Only the Eggrider with the offroad mode Amperage setting set to 19A :)
Edit: Now that I'm re-reading my comment, my top speed record wasn't on a hill, just flat road with ~850-900W output

What is the PAS difference?
(I tried searching but no luck)

Eggrider will not offer you the smooth PAS that native Rad controller has. It's a bit jerky and not so "gracefully" smooth. They have been releasing updates that improve things on that end. I usually either ride on PAS 2 or 3 and high gears for a workout, or PAS 5 for fun/when time is an issue.

Good to hear that!
I got mine today. First ride whit it tomorrow.

Hope it's a blast!

I'd recommend printing a sun hood for it: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4583482 ( You can also find a bottom bracket print for eggrider in thingiverse since they can break easily if you go too right )

RadRunner / Re: LCD screen addition
March 30, 2021, 11:47:46 AM
99.99% sure you can use the LCD screen on your RadRunner. No need for a controller swap. ( Unless... one is CA/EU and the other US...? Not sure how that'd happen tho )

Hey guys! I have posted this elsewhere but wanted to come back here and share it. I was never a big fan of official rack accesories ( not that they're even in stock ) and I had seen this German company with a really BIG selection of bags/crates/baskets/locking boxes. The key was to find a way to install their GTA adapter to the RR+ rack

After talking with Klickfix support their suggested their E-bike mounting brackets ( last pic, called "GTA Mounting Set E" ) which is metal ( compared to plastic ) and has a different design, that could possibly allow me to mount it on the really thick rack my bike has.

It worked, but not 100%, basically each bracket has 0.3mm on each side to "grip" on the bottom of the rack. But it's stable, tested it with 50km+ so far, going over many potholes and bumps, with stuff in the basket/box. Doesn't budge.

Another alternative would be to DIY some metal plates but I would lose the "anti-theft" aspect of the current adapter. Once you have an accessory on and it's locked, it's nearly impossible to remove the bracket.

The bracket GTA Adapter itself cost me €26 + €11 for the metal mounting set E

Basket was on sale for €26 & box @ €31

One minus due to the RR rack being so wide: I don't think I can use their pannier bags side slits the adapter has, but I might try this too :)

This allows me to do shopping with the basket and the box is more of a unicorn: It fits my Thousand helmet or quite a number of things! There is a bigger box which is like a motorbike box but I feel it's quite expensive and I have no need for this.

My next purchase would be their GTA Rackpack - all of the accesories lock onto the adapter! Don't expect a fancy lock though, I bet someone competent could pick it fast.

RadRunner / Re: Mirror for Radrunner.... ???

Ok, some information that might be helpful...

I just installed a mirror in the end of my bar without messing with having to modify the mirror.

I used a 5/8 inch drill to drill out some of the inner tube of the handlebar so the mirror could be inserted.  You do not have to drill out too much and should have no real bad affects.  The inner and outer handlebars are aluminum, thus easy to drill.

Hey! Did you by any chance go for the Hafny bar end mirrors? ( I got these delivered today: https://www.radowners.com/index.php?topic=672.msg3390#msg3390 )

They support 14.8-23mm inner handlebars and RR+ is supposed to be 15mm ( official reply ) but it will only go halfway in. There is an aluminum ring about half an inch inside the handlebar... I'm guessing this is what you drilled out?

I've actually made an order for a Hexlox set. One skewer for the front wheel and one for the seatpost. Pricey overall ( with the bolts and the unique key ) but I've read good things. One thing I was told by their support was to get the rear wheel skewer for my RR+ front wheel due to the fat tire.

I can update when my package arrives!

RadRunner / Radrunner(+) ideal u-lock length
January 21, 2021, 05:13:58 AM
I'm looking to decide on a U-lock length for my RR+ - My main lock is an Abus Bordo folding lock ( 6500 ) and I want to double up from the Abus line with a u-lock as I can order it with the same key.

Length options are at 230mm & 300mm - I'm certain the 300mm would be ideal but wondering if anyone has gotten a U-lock at ~230mm ( 9" ) and if it works well - mostly to minimize bulk and gain a bit on weight

RadRunner / Re: RadRunner Plus Owners?

RR+ owner here - From what I understand, the middle/double kickstand left a very tiny clearance at the bottom - which meant no off-roading, this is why they went with the side kickstand for the Plus.

I'm quite happy with it so far!

Just as little update on the status. With winter now being on the scene here, I've decide to leave the upgrade in place. The 25 amp version was not worth the range loss and noise, and if that was all I had I'd probably be sticking to the original controller all the time. However, the 35 amp version is more efficient than the 25, and the extra power makes the noise more tolerable. The other factor is there are fewer other people sharing the bike paths, and with more time being spend on desolate routes, I'm using the cruise control more. We shall se when summer rolls around, and more people are enjoying the peace and quiet. But for now, the extra power comes in handy slogging through mud and snow.

PS: I've added this comment to the original post as well, in case someone reads it and thinks the controller upgrade is a waste of time. It isn't, but there are still situations where I prefer the stock controller.

The whole thread with your updates is quite interesting! I'm wondering, what is the amp max current in the US stock controller? I've been considering the idea of buying a stock US controller from someone to upgrade my RR+ EU - The "limited" 250W setup is decent but I need just a bit more power for some hills, thinking that the 35A controller would be an overkill.

RadRunner / Bar end mirrors
December 22, 2020, 06:17:37 PM
Hello! My RR+ is on the way ( been checking that DHL tracking page too much ) and I'm deciding on some first must-have accessories/addons.

I know that Mirrycle has been proposed a lot in older topics, but does anyone has any experience with other bar end mirrors?

I was looking at Corky Urban but I doubt the fixed version will work with the stock grips - It's pricey but I like the minimalist design

Another minimalist option with good reviews is the Hafny bar end mirror - it seems that it would work well - has anyone tried them?
