I apparently made the mistake of buying the notoriously difficult to modify RadRunner 3+ and I'd like to change the controller+display to accomodate a 52v battery.  I see that ElectroBikeWorld has this: https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit but of course that is for the RadPower 6+.  Anybody know of a good option for controller/display updgrade to accomodate a 52v battery for the RadRunner 3+?

Have you solved the issue of where to put said battery?

The biggest difference in power is in the controller upgrade, not the battery.

You'll probably get UP TO 24mph or 40 kph with the new controller but your motor will not go faster. To go faster, you'll need to replace the motor with a true 750 watt. That will get you up to about 32 mph or 48 kph.

Yes, I have two (parallel connected) and am planning to run them from a bike trailer - I'm trying to make a good long distance touring configuration.

Re: the motor, I may replace this at some point.  For now, running the 52v batteries is for range primarily, and the fact that they are 52v means the stock Rad Power controller will not pass power on to the motor.

I haven't had any issues running a 52V battery on a stock Rad Wagon, Runner 2, or City 4. But haven't tried with the integrated controller.

My assumption that the controller is at fault for not passing power to the motor at 52v is a hunch tbh.  I ordered the ElectroBikeWorld kit after speaking with them about RadRunner 3+ compatibility.  However it turns out, I'll report back here.

Reporting back:  The https://electrobikeworld.com/products/rad-power-6-upgrade-kit works well on the Rad Runner 3+, and now I can use either the stock 48v battery or my 52v battery.

Looks like my controller on my Rad Runner Plus has gone out.  If I upgrade to the 35A version, do I have to also replace the display or with the stock display still work?

LCDs usually come with a new controller upgrades.  Easy to swap out.  And it will also be color.  Also the newer screen is easier to read.

Contract Area 13 to see if an upgraded controller will work with your older LCD.

I bought a better controller for my Radrunner from Area13. It came with the display.

I bought one for my Radmission from Electro Bike World. The display was sold separately. I ordered it because I could see my Radmission display wouldn't work with the new controller.

I noticed they have 2 different kits, is there a difference other than the price? Looks like the controller size is a bit different as well.  Are the specs different?  Or 1 just fits the RR3+ better than the other one?

One says a RAD 6 upgrade the other does not.  Probably the 6 upgrade is the one as I think your bike has the same setup.  The other one is probably prior to RAD change over.

Look at Area 13 website and see the differences.  They say which models will work with their controllers.

I bought the Radrunner 3+ also. Anyone know if it's 16a controller? Can't find it anywhere without taking it out. The 35a would need to be mounted on the outside.
