RadWagon / Re: Child Seat Woes

Did you choose a seat?   I really want something a little more protective than the smaller seats and probably over thinking all the choices.
The Yepp seats are a really good choice in my opinion and the easyfit system makes them quick to install and to remove when needed.

Hi, The Radwagon 4 is great. Here is how it should have been built:

1) One battery is unsafe. I have run out with both kids on the back a few times and it's horrible. The range they state in not even close. I added a 52v 2nd battery. Note location in photos.
2) It's slow and unsafe stock. Added a Bolton controller. It pulls hard up hills and goes close to 35MPH. Plus the range with two is great.
3) REALLY unsafe stock brakes. I tried cable pull hydraulic , they are terrible after a short time. I added front and back Avid code 4 piston brakes with 203mm SRAM rotors
4) Trailer hitch (gas pipe) and trailer (amazon). You can carry everything needed and not get sand or whatever in your car plus park right where you camp or whatever.
5) Simple side mirror
6) true 750w Bafang Hubbody
7) extra tube, tire irons and 4 C02 (i have got 3 flats over the last year and had to call friends. Now I can fix a flat on the side of the road)
8) One Up rack - I can put this heavy bike on this rack and go places...

definitely a cool set up, but one of the lures of Rads are their relative affordability, and with your set up, that bike isn't staying under 2k.

I would definitely love an extra battery set up on my Rad Rover 6+, but I'm too afraid of burning something out. :D
It would be cool if Rad had these items as options when placing an order, so you'd get them mounted on the frame before it ships.

So far I've added the small basket, a suspension seat post, a better saddle, the caboose and Conestoga, Tannus armour, hydraulic brakes, new grips.

That looks cool! Now please share some photos when the bike is fully loaded so we can see how you placed all the tools, bags etc!

RadRover / Re: Bottle holder?

I find riding any long lengths that the bottle holder is beating up the bottles.  I used to have metal bottle holders.  When the bottle fills with water, the bottle jumps up and down over the bumps and after 30 miles they are all scratched up.  It is fine with me - the bottles are still useful - they just look all beat up.

Is this a common experience?

Or is this just me and I am doing something wrong?
That's my experience as well. Other manufacturers sometimes has special water bottle systems on offer, like Riese & Müller, where the bottle is clipped into place - the solution there would be to just buy one of their bikes then ;)

Personally, I don't mind a beaten up water bottle.

Thanks Charly, you're the first person to actually talk about the obvious elephant in the room, the fact that this thing might act as a sail, catch wind and influence your steering direction. Good to call that out, ups and downs should be mentioned in any review really.

I got mine delivered recently but haven't been motivated yet to mount it (currently enjoying my first flat tire, 2 days after mounting the Rad Tannus armour kit...).

And if you don't mind me asking what happened to the roof straps, aren't there supposed to be 2 straps with clips to hold these side doors when riding open?

Not sure about every single component but they're likely assembled in China like most other bikes.

General Chat / Re: Signs A Battery Is Dying

Agree, this sounds like a faulty battery.

Installed the Tannus kit on my RW4 yesterday as well. Will give it a more thorough test ride today to see how it goes. No major differences in ride quality on my short ride yesterday.

Seb, I have a lot of problems adjusting settings on mine, the display always disconnects from the app after a few seconds. I can ride it in the default settings I got from Big Game Bikes but am unable to adjust my speed limit. How easy is it on yours to change settings via the app?

Mini Step Through - same problem. I think there is a design fault. too many incidents.
I'm not dismissing that product problems exist, everything has a weak spot, but as they say:

"Pics or it didn't happen ".

My front wheel fell off today causing me to crash as I was coasting down hill. When I located the skewer it was broken.... It snapped! I rolled three times and I'm sore as heck, but I'm thankful that I didn't break any bones! I will be contacting RAD Power bikes tomorrow on 5/9/2022. My wife was riding with me and thankfully she suggested that we didn't take the steeper hill down on our way to wish her mother a happy Mother's Day![emoji2195][emoji858][emoji1466]‍🦼[emoji37][emoji22]
Can you share an image of that broken part please? Also let us know what RAD responded when you contacted them!

I have a good bike shop neR me,they sell Avegtons, good service.
I agree, you get what you pay for.
RAD support told me to video of a noise at 12 mph, lol junk company selling junk.
I'm shaking my head at this negativity. It's a cheap ebike that has a working support and parts infrastructure that no other brand has. The fact that you need to do regular maintenance is normal with electric bicycles as well as regular ones.

If you find a better company that sells ebikes at the Rad price point please let us know, I'll be waiting for your suggestions.

Please listen you cannot go wrong with the Bolton bikes 35amp controller and display upgrade!!!  I own a radwagon 4, and even  under heavy load, it is an absolute powerhouse and goes 25-27mph.  or you can buy an eggrider display also, but i have not tested that. ; ;D
Both devices don't work with the new bikes yet.

Unfortunately not for Canadian customers.
