General Chat / Re: safe to charge battery while riding?

That aught to charge the battery just fine.

Whether you can charge and ride at the same time. Maybe? Probably not recommended though.

RadCity / Re: Upgrade 2020 RadCity 3-ST Drive to RadCity 5 Plus ST Drive?
« Last post by DCH3416 on September 22, 2021, 09:39:51 PM »
Well. From the photos that the new drive motor uses the same plug, and the cabling is on the same side as the previous model.

The wheels are now larger on the RadCity 5 at 27.5 inch, and are narrower by half an inch. Older RadCity models might be able to fit the larger wheel size. If I remember correctly a 29 inch model use to be available.

The controller for the RadCity 5 is now built into the frame so it wouldn't be a direct swap with older models. And it now uses a geared motor instead of direct drive. So the stock controller for older models probably isn't going to provide compatibility there.

For the time and effort, better off using a kit: https://boltonebikes.com/collections/motors-and-kits/products/radcity-and-radwagon-26-1500-watt-motor-kit

General Chat / Rad Plus Models speed unlock
« Last post by Ryan on September 22, 2021, 08:49:37 PM »
I was watching the Electrek review of the RadCity 5 Plus and there was mention that the speed unlock is still on the new Plus models. It seems like it hasn't been found yet from my research but I'll post any updates here.  8)

I have one waiting to be installed and I'll let you know what I think. Just hard when our RadWagon is out of commission so I'm not quite as motivated to get it done.

RadCity / Upgrade 2020 RadCity 3-ST Drive to RadCity 5 Plus ST Drive?
« Last post by Muiren on September 22, 2021, 06:08:25 PM »
I have a 2020 RadCity 3 Step-Thru with a few minor upgrades and accessories, and wanted to start a discussion about potentially upgrading the factory standard direct drive to the new RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru Rear-Wheel Assembly.
Would the new motor require the new controller? If not, would the new display console and selector work with the last generation controller and battery firmware?

General Chat / Re: Debating Purchase of Radmini Step Thru

I bought 2 of the Rad Mini 4ís. We love the folding feature and the riding position. I have RA in my shoulders, and the riding position is perfect for me. I also bought the Hollywood E-bike rack for our RV and itís awesome. When we use my wifeís Traverse we had to find an alternative way of hauling them because we donít have a receiver hitch. We found a couple on YouTube that use a 50 gallon Craftsman rolling container from Loweís. Once the bikes are folded, they fit perfectly in the container. Then lift it into the back of the Traverse.

Not sure what your problem is. I have a Cen-Tech 400W modified sine wave inverter that runs the Rad charger just fine. I got it for less than $30 at Harbor Freight a few years ago.
3 have not worked 150, 200 and 300w maybe 400w is the difference your 400w if it has a 12v std assec plug I will give it a try
