How To Information / i'm not good with forums like this... photos?
« on: March 09, 2021, 01:43:03 PM »
so, I've been trying to document a bike build but my phone takes pictures that are too big to post to a thread here. is there a way to link to say, my imgur account so that i can just post them there and link them so they show here?
i'm great with a wrench, or an angle grinder. no so much with a "computer"...

RadWagon / The Badwagon
« on: December 17, 2020, 09:10:38 AM »
I'm going to use this as a bit of a build thread, assuming that's ok.

Background: Once upon a time a 2019 Radwagon was stolen by some unsavory types. they stripped all of the useful parts off of it, including all of the electronics. eventually the police located the bike, and returned it to the owner. he had already bought a replacement with insurance money, so he contacted RAD about getting the replacement parts to bring it back up to speed. This price point didn't end up being significantly less than the price of a new Radwagon. disappointing for him to be sure. Said bike, basically a frame at this point was then put up for free on my local craigslist analogue.

The Bike is[was?] a 2019 Radwagon. Included: frame, fenders, forks, handlebars (with nothing attached) cranks & pedals, derailleur (sans hanger), chain, rear light, and the left side running board. Everything else is gone.

what I've ordered:
1500w hub motor kit with sw900 display
Hyperglide hub installed.
20ah lithium "dolphin" battery
SRAM 1x12 Eagle groupset with PG1210 cassette (11-50t)
gripshift shifter
left side half throttle
cable actuated 2 piston hydraulic brakes
Bolany front shocks/forks
right side running board
front rack
deflopilator
"ape hanger" handlebars
motorcycle style 6.5" round LED headlight

Issues I've had so far:
derailleur hanger is missing, rad doesn't have stock, and cant share a part number or supplier. not because they refuse, but because their staff don't know. I'm trying to track one down still
the headtube needs to be extra long. from this its hard to find a set of shocks that will fit. i ordered a set before i was aware of this issue, and I'm process of seeing if I can get the press fit head tube pressed out of mine, and a longer one pressed in. more to follow on that later.
sourcing a pattern for the deck top. it would be way easier to trace one onto materiel in order to cut it out rather than having to transfer measurements, and guessing for cut outs.
battery placement. the new battery is taller than the stock one, and wont fit between the down tube and the top tube. i have a couple of solutions in mind, but haven't made my mind up yet. though i'm leaning towards mounting on top of the top tube, with a set of Rivnuts, then either mounting a water bottle cage or the controller where the stock battery goes

i'll be starting to take things apart and test fit them all while I'm off around Christmas here. if you guys have suggestions or advice I'm open to it. I've never built a bicycle before. hopefully i can figure out how to do pictures small enough for the forum here, so i can add visual aides.

« on: November 10, 2020, 02:52:07 PM »
can someone post a pic of how their deflopilator is mounted? i only have the bolt with the loop on the fork, not the one to the down tube. is it the same? is it an eyelet on a bolt? a bolt with a hole drilled? i'm rebuilding my bike and an trying to figure out all the things without re-engineering EVERYTHING

Rad Modifications / Wired tail lights?
« on: November 06, 2020, 09:30:57 AM »
has anyone upgraded the taillight in their bike? I'm having trouble finding something that can be wired in to the bike and brakes, isn't tiny, and (preferably) has laser lines

Service & Repair / do radwagons use a standard BB?
« on: October 27, 2020, 01:52:50 PM »
i'm rebuilding mine, and am going to be replacing the BB/crankset/chain ring so as to run a 1x11 on a narrow-wide chain ring. ive seen a few things suggesting that a radwagon uses a 68mm square taper BB - but is there any reason i cant put in a sealed bracket and cranks?

I don't have a desktop for my red wagon. So I'm looking for something I can use to copy one. If anyone has one that could photocopy one end of so that I can trace it onto some plywood and build one that would be great if you could PM me or something I would really appreciate it

Rad Modifications / RadWagon full rebuild - Sugestions?
« on: September 08, 2020, 11:32:18 PM »
Good evening everyone!
I just got myself a RadWagon. The only problem is that almost all of the parts are gone. It was stolen. Located and then returned by the cops. The original owner talked to them and for the price of replacement parts it just made more sense to buy a new one. Insurance did that for him, so he sold it to me. So here I am with a sweet frame, that's just begging to be upgraded.

Bike is a 2019 and  has frame, fenders, handlebars (with nothing attached) cranks & pedals, derailleur, chain, and the left side running board. Everything else is gone.

What on your RadWagon would you upgrade?
What on your RadWagon *have* you upgraded and would totally recommend?
What have you always wanted to see someone do with a RadWagon?
What did you do, that you wouldn't recommend?
Does this orange grow on you, or should I seek paint?
Are the stock lights good enough, or should I be looking at something particular?
I've seen a few people mention going to a front suspension, have you done it? Is the bike better for it?
I have to replace the gears and shifter anyway, are the stock ones good enough, or should that derailleur get tossed in the scrap bin too?

Currently what I'm thinking:
replace the running board with one from RadBikes.
Upgrade to hydraulic or hydraulic/cable brakes
Bafang 1500w rear hub and motor
Do I go crazy and two wheel it up? Is that way overkill?

I have a 30kg Pitbull - any recommendations for traveling with her on the bike? I was thinking some kind of carrier on the running board, a front basket, or a sidecar.

Thoughts please?
