General Chat / Re: Inside the Rad battery and BMS

Companies buy the cells from Samsung and assemble their own packs. They're almost as never an indication on the external case of the battery pack. This method is industry standard.

Currently I'm running tanus armor on both my ebikes along with flat out. So far working extremely well.

Put one of these on your bike; they work amazingly well for the price and are loud/annoying as hell if triggered.

Mine's ziptied underneath the MiniST's rack, which is under the basket, so it's invisible unless you go looking for it.  Learn to use and enjoy the bike you've paid all that money to have and try to relax.
I have seen many reviews of alarms like this and I'm seriously thinking about installing one underneath my rack on my runner plus. My panniers would keep it out of sight.
I would seriously love an alarm  that would alert you on your phone and or watch when somebody tampers with it. Have not found the solution yet.

I do have the Abus 1010 city chain lock. I bought it to lock my bike in the garage. Its Gold rated. I imagine it would be easy to cut this lock with a grinder. Anyone have any experience with this lock?

I bought it last year for $109. I looked and now its $142. Shit everything is going up.

Jim
When your bike is locked with this chain and the garage do you have the chain anchored to the floor or wall?

Quote from: Veggyhed on January 13, 2022, 07:25:48 AMThe longest lock I know of is a kryptonite LS which I own and it does not go through the wheels 100%.

I use this ABUS lock, which is a beast and has an inside-shackle length of about 11.5" - should clear the width of fat tire/wheel too, but measure to be sure.

I found a couple reviews and from what they said it's a really good lock but a grinder will cut through it in about 40 seconds.
I watched a couple of videos and it's about 3 minutes. There has to be two cuts made in order to free the lock.
Please I need to cut my Abus Lock.
99% of locks do not work well against grinders. But it does buy you time.

I have the mini 4 and runner plus which I use panniers on and carry fairly heavy loads with groceries. I've never experienced this problem but I do make sure that the heaviest items are in the bottom of the panniers. I have never worried about one side being heavier than the other however you do notice it while riding but it's never been an issue. I also do have to say the trip to the grocery store for me is 2.4 mi so I'm not traveling that far and I'm on City roads.

Please let us know if those two things sold your problem that you mentioned.

How do you have that meter hooked up to your battery?

I'm not sure you want to go less than 3.3. I don't think the rims are narrow enough for smaller sizes.

I work with someone who asked me the exact question. I wasn't able to answer it. They have three kids and the spouse uses the wagon and they want to get the runner plus as the second bike. Hopefully someone will reply here that has the info

RadRunner / Re: Wheel size in display settings

And the display settings for the mini 2020 The manufacturer settings are 20 in. The mini uses exactly the same wheels as the Runner Plus. I unfortunately while messing around with the settings did not pay attention to the original settings. It is the settings that I'm curious about.

I also think that this is a battery issue. There are generic batteries on Amazon that people have bought and they say they work well. I never have done this nor do I know anyone in real life who has done this. At 6 years old  a battery that probably was not stored correctly  should be replaced.

On both of my rad bikes when I get them I go through and unscrew the bolts and use anti-seize on them unless the bolts are critical and then I use blue loctite. That makes it far easier to get bolts in and out especially like on the brakes for when you need to adjust them.

I would also open up that controller, that magic black box and see if there's any corrosion inside there.

Please stay in touch with the forum because I would love to see progress notes on this bike considering I owned a 2020 rad mini

You might not even need primer. Just rub it down with steel wool and paint your choice of color
