Radrover up/down PAS buttons now do not change pedal assist level??

The handlebar mounted control for setting the PAS level (0-5) on my 2018 Radrover fat bike will now only intermittently change the PAS level when pressed (it takes maybe 10 or twenty presses).  Any ideas?  Might it be just the PAS handlebar control is dirty?  A bad controller? or ????

PS: I have only 200 miles on the Rover, and it is never out in the weather.
