Rad Modifications / Battery upgrade
May 05, 2021, 11:34:31 AM
So after a ride last week with my wife we made it 39 miles with the stock rad battery, making it back just short of our car before the batteries cut off.
I've decided to upgrade our batteries on our bikes to get greater range. We will be getting 4 batteries, 2 each, so we both can bring a spare. I've been looking at the 52v batteries to get the most range.

We have already upgraded to the Bolton controller and Bafang 750 motor. (Radrover 5 and Radrunner Plus)

I'm looking at the Fat shark 52v 17.5ah batteries and noticed different Bms(30 and 40)and different max burst/max discharge amps(50,60 and 85a)
I don't really care about more power/speed so much(although it wouldn't hurt ;D), as most of our riding is on a mostly level rail trail using pedal assist 2 and the controller and motor upgrade has made any of the steep hills around my neighborhood no problem.
Would any of these outputs make much of a difference in range using only pedal assist? (with limited throttle use)
Would the 85a max burst be to much for a 35a controller?

Thanks!

Rad Modifications / Bafang rear hub motor grease
March 18, 2021, 11:34:23 AM
Getting ready to swap Bolton 750w motor into my Radrover, and have read adding a little extra white lithium grease to the gears is suggested.
Anybody know what grade should be used, or if it matters?
I've found both NLGI 1.5 and NLGI 2 grade white lithium grease.
Thanks
