Title: Canadian radrover.. different motor than US model?

I am interested in buying at radrover.. however in Canada it is advertised as having only a 500 watt motor...

Is it REALLY a smaller motor or is there a setting in the menu that can bring it up to 750 watts.. or is it the battery controller.. the reason i ask is i want the 750w performance.

I rode a friend's US radrover 2018 model in Maine in 2019 and it was OK but barely on the longish steep hills... I live in NW Ontario where the hills are steeper and taller soooooooo... 500w not gonna do the job!

So question is... does anyone know if the Canadian bike is the same as the US bike? If not whats the difference?

I think the Radrover US is a 500w motor in a 750w housing, so they are probably the same.

I think the US version is also 500 watts advertised as a 750. There is a YouTube video out there where they compare what a 500 and a 750 motor look like and the weight difference.
I'm not sure if this will help a little or not but you can go into the settings on the display and remove the limitations. I think that if you do this you change the designation of the e-bike and I am unsure of Canada's e-bike restrictions.

I'm not sure if the Canadian motor is the same as the US motor, but if they are indeed one and the same, all you need is a controller and display upgrade.

In terms of the whole "true" wattage discussion, the engineer in me does not put much stock in people measuring stator coil electrical specifications with their eyeballs. It's basic science, and you can stick the motor in a test rig and take actual measurements. What I suspect Rad did is settle on a custom unit that is fine with both 500 and 750 watts nominal, and this simplifies manufacturing and keeps costs down. I've tested the Rad motor myself, and have personally pushed it to 1,680 watts. Logic dictates that if a motor handles 1,680 watts under load without overheating or any other issues, then 750 watts is of no concern. And if you are wondering what a RadMini with 1,600 watts to the stock motor is like, enjoy the photo of a normal start below  ;)
