Mine worked fine out of the box and I?m very happy with it. As usual, those of us who don?t have any issues don?t post about that [emoji6].

I have a newCity 5 Plus ST. No drag whatever. I coast downhills with other bikers who have the speedy conventional bikes. In fact at times I have to touch my brakes a bit while they don?t need to.

A stop sign every 30 seconds? That's a lot and makes things much tougher! It's to bad you don't live in one of the states that allows for Idaho stops, which allows bikes to treat stop signs like yield signs.

I?m assuming the battery for the City 5 Plus and the Rover 6 Plus are the same and interchangeable. Is that correct?

This is obviously a frustrating situation. And anyone with a new piece of equipment?car, dishwasher, mower, whatever?that has issues can relate to your circumstance. I must say the one thing in my experience with RAD buying two bikes in the past year is how responsive customer support is. I?ve never been on the phone more than a handful of minutes before speaking to a rep. Granted not all their representatives are on the A team but that?s true for any company?s customer support. But you seem to be stiff armed by them which is a head scratcher. That?s really unfortunate. Hope things get ironed out for you soon.

i wouldn't sweat it. EBikes are very much a forward industry.

unfortunately, most industries suffer through layoffs and such in down economies, which is a way to better improve a company's chances to make it through those down times.

Just bought the Rad Rover 6 Plus Step Thru. Will have it soon. I already have the Rad City 5 Plus Step Thru and really like that bike. I like to have two bikes in case one is in the shop and the Rover gives me a bit of a different ride, etc.

...So can you replace the stock seatpost with a bit longer suspension style seatpost?  I'm reading that suspension posts are more comfortable and just wondered if this would be doable?

I don't believe anyone answered your question but the answer should be yes I'd say.

My new RAD City 5 Plus Step Thru has about 500 miles on it. I like this bike more and more all the time (my 6th E-Bike). The initial controller had a problem fairly soon--though it still worked. RAD sent a new one and a certificate to have it installed by Velofix (mobile bike service) at no cost to me. No problems since. Every thing else works fine too. It's a solid bike. Lots of power. Very comfortable. Good balance. It fits me perfectly--better than any of the previous E-Bikes I've owned and 3 were considerably pricier than the RAD. This one is a keeper.

Eric7--totally agree about how difficult they are to take apart.

I have the Tannus liners that I suspect affect the way tire pressure behaves. I run my tires at 50.PSI. The ride is stable and comfortable. But to my surprise the tires really hold their pressure. I can ride 25 miles one day, then check the next day before a ride and the 50 PSI is still there. YMMV.

I'm 5'8" (use to be 5'10") but 32 inseam for the bike measurement. Because of how I like to ride I like a high seat. So I had to buy a new seat post. That is not a big deal. Now the bike is perfect for me. And I still have more seat post to raise if I needed it (which I don't now).

Jerry--so glad you like your new ride. Sounds like you know what the bike should be in fitting the seat for you. Plus you grabbed the discount--a real plus when you've found a bike you really enjoy. I have similar thoughts about my new and first time RAD.

I just did it over the weekend on my new Rad City 5 Plus, though it has a different controller than some other models it appears.

Ebikes are now so popular and common that most bike shops can deal with most issues on most ebikes (supply chain issues for parts aside since that affects regular bikes too). I'm fortunate to live in the Portland/Vancouver area which is extremely bike friendly and offers loads of bike shops, quite a few specializing in Ebikes so repair and maintenance aren't a problem. In addition there is Velofix, a mobile service that comes to you and is very RAD knowledgeable. I realize in smaller towns the situation is different so your MMV. But in general I wouldn't worry about which Ebike to own. My Rad is my 6th Ebike (2 of the previous were Trek Verve for the record) and is my favorite.
