RadRover / Re: Battery Mistake

Does anyone have suggestion of who I might contact to make the repair? I'd prefer to avoid the shipping encounter. I live in the Portland/Vancouver area so it's a large region with lots of electrical businesses. Just not sure where I might go.

Several YOuTube videos show how to replace the fuse on the semi-integrated battery. But it's above my pay grade. Hoping I can find an adventurous electrician. Thanks for the responses and good wishes.

RadRover / Battery Mistake
August 08, 2022, 01:14:06 PM
I was removing the Rover 6 battery for charging and touched the key against the power source input instead of the battery release lock. A spark went off. I then proceeded to charge the battery as usual. BUT--the green light on the charger went on instead of the red light which means the battery is fully charged, which isn't the case. The levels of charge on the PAS says it's down 3 bars of power and the light on the battery shows it's down one bar of charge. It appears the battery is not charging because it's been on over an hour and since it wasn't drawn down very much the charge shouldn't take long. At least it hasn't previously when I've ridden the same miles as today.

My other bike is a City 5 Plus with the identical battery and until today--the batteries behaved exactly the same ways when charging.

I fear my error damaged the battery. Is there someplace I can take it to have it examined and repaired if needed? I've only had the bike a few weeks.

RadCity / Re: PAS Display Lighting

I spoke with RAD yesterday. Apparently, at least according to the person I spoke to, they?ve updated the brightness on the RAD Rover 6 Plus. Likely to be added to future RAD city 5 Pluses as they come on line for sale. Only option is to buy their new one for our existing dim gizmo but it costs $109.00. I?ll pass.

They do use Velofix. But just like the RAD mobile service it?s not everywhere. But RAD paid Velofix to replace my City 5 Plus display gizmo AND a tuneup after a few hundred miles. Previously I?d used RAD mobile for assembly and delivery which was great. But Rad is moving to a brick and mortar model which makes sense. One stop shop and repair and RAD will control the system. Not unlike the Pedago model I?m guessing.

But this is for brightening the center display. It's the PAS display on the left side of the handle bar that is dim.

It's a worthwhile option imho. I added one to my City 5 Plus and liked it so much I immediately put one on my brand new RR6 Plus just the other day. Easy to adjust to your liking.

RadCity / PAS Display Lighting

I have the RCity 5 Plus, and a new Rover 6Plus. Both fabulous bikes. Obviously very different purposes. One thing I noticed immediately is the PAS Display (nearest to the left handle) on the Rover is the same brightness as the center display whereas on the City the PAS display is very dim. Lots of comments and threads on the City display including on the Bike reviews. Rad must have fixed this brightness issue.

Yes. I installed it on mine 2 days ago.

Bend is a 3 and a half hour ride from Vancouver I believe. It's been a few years since I did it but will again in two weeks.

I'm in Vancouver, WA. My bike rack doesn't handle the Rover 6 Plus but I'm interested the the old highway ride. I have to figure the transport out. I just got the RAD Rover. But my other bike is the RAD 5 Plus and that fits my bike rack so I have options.

RadRover / Re: Rover 6 Plus Tire PSI
August 01, 2022, 09:20:03 PM
Thanks for the responses. I thought 30 is the maximum PSI. Which means that's the absolute top pressure I thought. Bike shop guy set mine at 25 saying that's enough especially with how hot it's been recently. I'll try that for a bit and go from there.

Picking up my new Rover 6 Plus today. Just curious what others are using as tire PSI. I weigh 165 lbs if that helps. Thanks

I just bought a Rover 6 Plus and it was delivered in a matter of days. Maybe different lengths of time for different models?

Probably a good idea to do a test ride if possible. And know too you can get a longer seat post if needed and for some RAD models you can get a handle bar extender to raise it too. Both those things might affect your ability to have one of these great bikes.
