Rad Modifications / Re: Throttle disconnect kit

I?ve seen instructions for installing a throttle disconnect kit. It is simply two caps to put on each end of the connector after it is disconnected. I haven?t been able to find how to buy one. I?d like to have the option of disconnecting the throttle to make it legal to ride in CA State Park and Recreation Area trails. Most all those trails are restricted to class 1 e-bikes. Can anyone tell me where to get the disconnect kit?

Personally, I'd just buy a sticker off ebay or wherever that says Class 1 and cover your current sticker. and then use your honor and not use the throttle where restricted, instead of going through all the trouble and money to disconnect and reconnect.

Oops. We got both a RadRover 6+ and an Expand 5. That quote was from the Expand 5 page. Here is the Rover 6+.

Rad Power Bikes by Kenda Juggernaut 26" x 4", K-Shield puncture-resistant liner *tires received may not include branding

sure. maybe. but i can tell you from experience that if a goat head or something gets between the tire and the tube without any additional protection, that tube will almost certainly puncture.

Less than 100 miles, excellent condition.
Includes the following:
Front rack
Rear rack
Tire armor
Charger

Save on installation and tax.

Asking $2000 obo.

suggestions?

1. let people know where you're located, unless you're going to ship the bike.
2. offering the bike for more than it would cost to get new from Rad isn't likely to garner a lot of offers. The bike may have less than 100 miles, but like a car, the minute you ride it off the lot, it depreciates in value.

They do not come with tire lines. I have installed Tannus Liners and Flat Out in mine.

This is a quote from the RadPower web site.

QuoteCST BFT 20" x 4.0", e-bike rated with puncture-resistant liner and reflective strip.

What did you find in the tires of your RadRover? Are they using the term ?liner? too loosely?

if you're quoting something about 20 inch ties, you're not quoting something about the Rad Rover 6+.

I personally don't use tire liners, but do use FlatOut.

I have purchased a 2nd hand RAD Rover. The seller got it has a gift from his father in law & knew little or nothing about the bike. I am trying to find the Rover model & age.I         e mailed RAD but they were of no help. I have the serial number.  Thank you for any help. :)

if you have the serial number, rad should know exactly which bike it is.

i would recommend calling them.

Tree, ebikes weren't even on our radar last summer. We were camping in September and rented a SOB bike and got hooked. A month later these crazy sale prices forced our hand. Originally I purchased them for $1599 thinking that I got a great deal, the week that I received them they dropped another $300. I called customer service to see if they would refund the difference since we were in our free trial period, they said "Sure" and credited me $800. I  am not sure why I got $800 instead of $600 but hey, I will take it.
We love the bikes.

that's killer. When I bought my bike, i'd been lamenting how little I rode my bike in recent years, and about 6 weeks before began researching.

it's been life changing. Sure, i wish I'd paid less, but i don't begrudge anyone who got a great deal - nor do I begrudge Rad for offering great deals (it always blows my mind when people are like "that's not fair! i bought mine 5 months ago and it was so much more expensive...")

We purchased our RR 6+'s for $1199 US in October of this year.  Great value in my opinion.

800 bucks less than i paid in january. you got a steal - i got 8 more months of riding in, but you got the better price :D

Thats bad luck right there!
Did you use a tourqe wrench on it last time?

i did not. i spent half a day trying to find the right freakin' torque wrench at local and big box hardware stores, and finally gave up.

that being said, i just got the wheel off with a tip from the FB RadRover 6 group. it was so easy, i'm annoyed at how challenged I was by it.

the mistake i made was trying to lift the wheel up. With a wrench gripping the flat part of the bold, i pulled back, and it popped right now.

inspecting the inner tube, it's not huge, but it's not tiny either. big enough that i can see what flat out didn't do it's job.

the bright side of all this is that now i can put my new tires on - i was going to wait until next week when i got the bike repair stand I've been wanting, but now i'll just get to it this week. (i'd been looking for this particular tire for several weeks)

BTW, what type of bike stand do you get?

Scotty

I was all but certain I was going to get the Park 10.3, but ended up going with the Feedback Sports Ultralight Repair Stand. Due to weather and travel, I haven't really had a chance to try it out, but so far, so good.

RadCity 5+ and RadRover 6+ are currently at 1199 EUR in Europe. I'm "not amused", since we paid way more for these bikes. I'm not sure why they do that.

you're not sure why the price of a bike will go down after 18 months on the market? That's sort of how things tend to work.

the gist of your post was a whole lot of mumbo jumbo not related to head injuries.

the fact of the matter is that if you don't want to be "bothered" by the noise of somersaulting in a helmet, then don't wear one. After the first knock on your dome from the pavement, you're probably not going to be bothered by much of anything.

you've got one brain and one life. you lose one, you lose the other. protect it, if not for yourself, than for your loved ones.

Sorry, I did not anticipate that you would be unable to comprehend me.

"Don't wear a helmet" is a recommendation, not a fact. i remember the first knock of my dome on the pavement. It was September, 1958. There was a steel pipe along one side of the concrete patio. I suppose it was 7 feet high. I couldn't reach it standing, but I could from my bicycle seat. I discovered that I could grab the pipe from a moving bicycle to swing out of the saddle and let the bicycle park itself.

The next day, I demonstrated for friends. That's when I discovered that if you're riding too fast, your feet will swing up higher than your head, and at that point  you'll lose your grip. If my feet were higher than my head, my head was higher than the bar. I was going to fall on my yead from more than 7 feet, and on my back, I couldn't break the fall. Three feet is considered the height from which it's fatal for a skull to hit concrete.

I awoke to the prodigious laughter of my friends, who sobered up when I opened my eyes. You might have bought a helmet so you could continue to fall on your head. Maybe you would have bought a helmet and continued putting on these shows. Instead, I decided not to fall on my head again. Since then, I haven't knocked my dome on pavement on a bicycle crash. My mumbo jumbo is related to avoiding head injuries by maintaining control.

despite your attempts in style, you're not Hunter S. Thompson. It's still mumbo jumbo.

I'm not wearing a helmet because I lack faith in my skills. I wear a helmet because I lack faith in the skills of others.

Ebikes are considered a motor vehicle and not covered by flood insurance.

all of those is going to depend on the particular policy in the particular state.

for example, my bike is not covered by homeowner's or rental insurance.

they are covered by the specific insurance i purchased for my bike.

If you hit something head on you are gonna go flying whether you are leaning forward or back.  Add to that the protection a helmet gives if one of your tires wash out and you go down sideways makes a helmet a pretty good choice.  It's like insurance though, if you never crash you can say you never needed to protect your noggin.  If you do need one, it would be good to be wearing one.

The noise of somersaulting in a helmet bothered me. It would hit the pavement on every revolution, and at first those revolutions had been very rapid, like a blowout on the interstate. By the time I thought of trying it without a helmet, the ball bearings had melted, rendering the puddle useless.

you could get one of those attachments that allow you to use your thumb.

personally, i wouldn't want cruise control on my bike - it can make you be less attentive, and on your bike, that can get you killed.
