I use my Park Stand as a bike holder 99% of the time.  I just put the horn of the seat on horizontal bar.   You can likely do most of what you need in this fashion to the rear.

I'm starting to think this is what I'll have to do, with a Park or similar style stand. I had considered an Ibera-style utility stand (example), but the weight-bearing capacity for most models is not great, and I'd worry about the brake cable routed under the chainstay being pulled or damaged by the mount. I don't love the idea of hooking the horn of the seat on the stand, but it's about the only option I'm hearing about that wouldn't require me to lift the entire weight of the bike. Thanks for the advice.

I have an older version of this https://www.parktool.com/en-us/product/home-mechanic-repair-stand-pcs-9-3?category=Portable

I knew  I bought a cheap bike. I had to sell my car for medical issues. Trying to get on it doesn't work, so disgusted

Ive had crazy wrecks on really expensive bikes, sometimes sh!t just happens....

How bad is the bike?  Is it still rideable?

Pretty sure both of my Rads have this
https://bicycles.stackexchange.com/questions/38942/what-is-this-spring-between-the-fork-and-the-frame

These are the first two bikes Ive ever had with this spring, but its there so I installed it.

I had a RAD Panier on my RADWagon that I sold.  I liked it when I ran to grocery store I hung in it the cart and just loaded it after checking out.

Only once or twice did I notice it in the way.

I used to wear Oakley Flak transitions lenses when I commuted in winter.  I started and ended in the dusk but parts of the ride would be in full sun.  Great option as long as it wasnt dark.  These also block the wind well so Ive never needed anything else.

RadRunner / Re: Radrunner or Radrunner Plus

The Runner plus is a big improvement over the Runner 2 - Three items on the plus make it a better buy -  1)Compression fork,  2) seven speed shifter and the 3) speedometer.

This is just me but I went for simplicity- I chose the Runner 2 for those exact reasons- No maintenance on a rigid fork, I use the Pedal Assist to accomplish same thing and no real need for speedometer.  I have said before the front chain ring is likely too large and will swap it.

Ive ridden nothing but Ergon for thousands of miles on the MTB and I would use nothing else.  I always use the GP1 version

What makes them better than the ones on my Rad bike is the Lock on feature so they dont move.

If Im out and about with it I'll lock the bike but never thought to take the battery off.   Dont you need the key anyway in the right position to get it off?

Have been on the RadRover but the Step thru feature of my RadRunner is awesome and I bet it would fit the bill.

The wheelbase is 2.5" shorter
The seat height is 2" lower minimum.

Service & Repair / Re: Problem with my RR2
July 29, 2022, 08:15:51 AM
Pulling a crank and the BB isnt hard just takes the right tools- The Park CCP-22 is the right one and you need the BBT-22 to pull the bottom bracket.  You will need grease to put back on the parts when re-assembling.  These are hardly ever used tools so you might just want the bike shop to handle it since you may never use them again.

I didn't like the basket mounting across the frame, so I 3D printed some brackets to hold it inline.  I used ABS which I then smoothed with acetone, and they work, but I suspect they're not going to last forever.  I contacted a machinist friend and sent him the STL file of the parts and he's going to make them on his CNC.  I'll then have them anodized.

1. Is that the RAD Branded Large Basket?
2. How noticeable is it when riding to have that basket right against the seat?

Rule 12

That being said I own a FS MTB, a year old Gravel Bike, my Rad Runner and a Beach Cruiser style.  I keep itching to get another SS Rigid for riding around the streets but thats what the Rad Runner is supposed to be for.

Most of the maintenance needed is still just standard bike maintenance.

Lennard Zinn and his "Art of......" series are the best to learn how to maintain a bike.

I have read both Road and MTB cover to cover many times and often refer to them for work.
