Rad Modifications / Re: Speed Hack Not Working

Hmmm.  Has anyone with a Radrunner 2 been able to make the contact-covered-with-electrical-tape speed hack work?  Or some other speed hack?--Sam

Rad Modifications / Speed Hack Not Working
May 15, 2022, 12:12:21 PM
Hi All-- I'm eager to increase the top speed of my Radrunner 2, but the popular speed hack posted on YouTube -- about covering the speed regulator contact with electrical tape -- isn't working for me.  The battery power still seems to be capped at around 20 mph.  Any ideas what might be going on here?  Maybe this particular speed hack only works with earlier models of the bike?  I purchase my Radrunner 2 last month, so maybe Rad has implemented a workaround?

I came up with an inexpensive and rather elegant solution to the standard-pannier-bags issue: I hung two 6" eye bolts (1/4" diameter) from the top side of the frame using Rad's predrilled holes and four appropriately sized nuts, then threaded a 10" bolt (3/8" diameter) through the eyeholes of each eye bolt, and then secured the 10" bolt to the eyeholes using appropriate sized nuts an washers.  Total cost: $5.  Time to install: 10 mins.

It's tough b/c none of Rad's pre-drilled mounting holes are standard . . . a financially wise decision on their part, to be sure, as it ensures we'll eventually cave and purchase accessories directly from them, but also a source of frustration for me.

Rad Modifications / Re: Passenger Seat

No additional modifications for the seat, backrest, and handlebar required. The mounting bolts for the seat bottom do not line up with any of pre-drilled holes in the Radrunner 2's frame, but the brackets that come with the seat still allow the seat to be mounted securely to the rear rack, so no worries there.  You will, however, need to purchase two bolts, with nuts and washers, in order to mount the foot pegs to the Radrunner 2's foot peg holes (unless, of course, you'll be mounting the foot pegs to the rear wheel hub, as the designer of the passenger seat intended).

Hi all, just a quick post to say that the passenger seat setup linked above works great on my radrunner 2 — in case anyone else is looking for a good alternative to Rad's passenger seat options.

Thanks for your caution, Eric!  I'm using my Radrunner to transport my kiddo to and from school, which means that a rear basket and/or saddle bag doesn't work for us, which is why I'm eager to explore front basket options.  Has anyone discovered an alternate front basket / front storage solution that works, or should I just buck up and spend $100 on Rad's front basket?

Rad Modifications / Alternate Front Basket Options?
April 25, 2022, 10:33:32 PM
Hi Everyone-- I just purchased a Radrunner 2, would like to install a front rack or front basket, but am daunted by the prices at Rad for these items. Has anyone had any luck with alternate front racks or front baskets, custom or otherwise?  Thank you!

Rad Modifications / Passenger Seat

Hi Everyone--  I just ordered a Radrunner 2 (psyched!) and would like to add an after-market passenger seat with a backrest.  Does any one have any recommendations?  I'm leaning toward something like this, but also wondering if you think it would fit: https://amzn.to/3kknbo9  Thanks for your help!
