I am surprised that it has the same out of date display.  Color displays with blue tooth capability are becoming the standard for many eBikes.

I just replaced my K-Rads with Two Vee Tire 20x4.0 SkinWall Bike Tires Speedster E-Bike 50 with Endurance Compound and Override Puncture Protection (the ones with the off white sidewalls) So far I am very happy with this up grade, no problem with grip and best of all these tires are quiet - no hum what so ever which is a big improvement over the noisy K-Rads.  You have three choices, the off whitewalls, black walls and whitewalls. Only issue I have now is my motor is very loud when under load.

General Chat / Re: "New Rad" CEO Letter - Thoughts?

We are happy with our 3 Rad Bikes. But I think if they want to stay competitive they need to expand their lineup,   1) a mid-drive bike 2) lighter weight bikes, 3) improved color selections - bright colors are safer on the streets, 4)  a better supply of replacement parts, I would like new tires for my RR+ but they have been back ordered, 6000 miles in 12 months and mine are shot - 5) hydraulic brakes 6) I have been purchasing most of our accessories from Amazon, where prices and shipping are more competitive (seats, seat posts and bags) - Rad is missing out on a lot of sales to their customers,

Trikes are nice, but most of us are riding 2 wheeled bikes, that is where sales growth will be coming at - look what the competitors are doing, Aventon has my interest for a 4th bike and companies like Lectric  are doing their best to attract customers,

Here is a biggie I was on the faculty at a major University - University Extension programs on line offer out standing tutorials for individuals looking for help,  Rad needs to establish a good trouble shooting site for owners of Rad Bikes,  most of us understand the old 10 speeds we rode to college, but add a battery, controllers, and disc brakes - this is a whole new world,  we need better and easier to understand tutorials from Rad,

General Chat / Re: How much do you trust your Rad?

I do not think you have much risk of a controller failure,  as far as distance is concerned we regularly ride 25-30 miles every day and never drop below 3 bars remaining.  If your ride includes lots of up-hill riding you may need to be more aware of your battery reserve especially when exceeding 30 miles. Our 2 mini's are lighter resulting in better battery management than the heavier Rad runner + that I normally ride.

General Chat / Re: Rad bike seats
November 10, 2022, 06:38:06 AM
The seat post upgrade will be the best upgrade for a more comfortable ride. As for seat selection, if you need a better one most owners are upgrading to models like the Cloud 9 on Amazon which are not offered by Rad.  Another seat option is to check out locally available seats at Walmart, Academy etc so you can test what you are planning to purchase.

This depends on your riding area.  Mine were still good at 4500 miles wen I put on new hydraulic calipers.  If you have lots of hills their service life will be less.

Go to Amazon and purchase some Klein Allen tools of the appropriate sizes (4 and 5mm), tire patch kit and tools to remove bike tires. It's also a good idea to have a 10 mm wrench.

27.2mm is the post size.  Many of us Rad riders are using the Suntour seat posts to maximize comfort.  I use the Cloud 9 and a Suntour, we ride around 25 miles every day and find that configuration very comfortable.

We ride that far every day for pleasure / exercise on country roads - the down side is this will take you at least 90 minutes each way - if you have the time, go for it.

RadRunner / Re: Radrunner Plus Motor Noise

My plus is quieter than my Mini-4 but still noticeable -  a bigger issue is the tires have a loud hum, especially on concrete -   no change after 7 months of riding and 4200 miles

Service & Repair / Re: brake pad replacement
July 10, 2022, 06:49:15 AM
I just ordered pads for my RR+. We have three Rad Bikes -the 2 Mini's folding brakes are working good (1700 and 3000 miles),  but the rear brake (2700 miles) on the RR+ is impossible to keep in adjustment which is interesting because I primarily use the front brakes then tap on the rears if I need a little more stopping power.   If this does not work I will order the hydraulic calipers that Area 13 promotes.

Broncobuster,  I think you should check the Rad Power Bikes Facebook pages and you will get better advice from more experienced riders,  I have a Rad Runner + and I would not take it on any mountain trails - I suspect you should be looking at the Rad Rover.

I added one of Rads front racks and attached the light to one of the screws holding the rack - or you could skip the rack and attach it to one of the four screws.  Only issue is that the light will track with the frame and not with the front wheel - not an issue for me,

RadMini / Re: Range Per Charge
April 08, 2022, 09:11:37 AM
This all depends on your riding technique/ preference.   We usually ride about 20 miles per day and typically have 4 bars left but we ride rural hard surfaced roads and maintain PAS 2 (and occasionally PAS 3). On rides when we have exceeded 25 miles we still have 3 bars left,  My conclusions are if you ride conservatively you can easily go 40-45 miles but if you are riding more aggressive it will be less.   I have seen comments of riders using PAS 1 and significantly exceeding 50 miles,   We re-charge every day after we ride to make sure that we have adequate battery reserve for our next days ride.
