Has anyone added a front shifter, and gotten the extra versatility that comes with it - especially with the heavier frames like the radwagon?

When we load up our RadWagon and I mean really load it up, I appreciate the front gearing. We have a 2018 RadWagon that came with it. Beyond that I think it just adds unnecessary complexity/more maintanance. With the more powerful motor of the RadWagon 4 I think for most people the 8 speed is sufficient. Just my opinion though.
