I'm looking for solutions to attach my kryptonite new york fahgettaboudit to the frame while I'm riding. It's heavy. The U tube is 18mm (~0.71") diameter and the yellow lock is about 50mm (~1.97").

One thing that crossed my mind is to buy a handlebar extender like this one:

Get rid of the actual bar and attach the 2 supports somewhere on the frame. Then I would just lock the U-lock on them.

That could work. Otherwise I see them mounted on rear racks quite often. Either on top of a rear bag or on top of the rack itself if you're using panniers. You could also hang it on the side.

I'm trying to think how I could fix it under the rack. That's sort of unused space. :-) I'm wondering if there is anything I could do with velcro, maybe. I also have a cable to use with the u-lock. Maybe I can use the cable itself. I'll give it some thought.

I mounted my ABUS 540 lock on the left side of the bike using their bracket.

I have the same Kryptonite lock.  I couldn't find an acceptable mounting system and was contemplating building one.  Then I ran across a leather bracket that attaches to the rear of the seat  It is exactly what I envisioned attempting to build  It is available at Amazon for $33+.  It is perfect and high quality. I am a happy customer.

I just purchased this and it works like a charm.  High quality and a perfect fit for my Kryptonite New York ULock: https://amzn.to/38pwr87

Heads-up, the product description on this link says that this is NOT to be used with the Kryptonite New York lock, and there is one customer review complaining that the product snapped when they used it with that lock.

It's a pity, because that looked like an attractive option until I read further.

Sounds like that lock is just a tad too heavy.  Would it be possible to reinforce it somewhere and/or modify it?   The design itself is genius.  I could see any seamstress or someone with Mad Glue gun skills making one from a more durable canvas or some other outdoor materials.
