All 8s on my odometer/speedometer - anyone know what's wrong?

I was riding along, I look down, and all of a sudden, my speedometer is acting super weird and showing all 8s. When I was pedaling, it was 88 across the screen, presumably because I was in double digits.

Anyone know what may have happened?
